Eagles Education Initiatives
At the Eagles, we take pride in our ongoing commitment to the community that we share with our fans. Among our charitable initiatives, we believe that education is key, and think it is essential to reward both students and educators for their outstanding work and dedication throughout the year.
In the past, we have sent information about our educational programs one at a time during the year; however we have decided that it may be easier to provide everything to all who are interested on one easy website. We hope this "one stop shopping" approach will provide an easy way for you to revive interest in an older program or familiarize yourself with new one.

Eagles Brainy Bunch Presented by Sovereign Bank
The Philadelphia Eagles support kids' involvement in all youth sports especially youth football. Together w ith Pop Warner and Sovereign Bank this year we will acknowledge the academic success of youth athletes across the Philadelphia area. Two scholar athletes, one football player and one cheerleader, will be selected for each Eagles' home game of the 2007 season for their success both on the field and in the classroom. The athletes are selected by Pop Warner through their existing ""Little Scholars"" program. Each athlete selected will be invited to that week's Eagles home game and have a chance to watch the team warm-up from the sidelines. In addition Sovereign Bank will make a $500 contribution to each recipient's team.

Staples "Score School Supplies"
Again this year, Staples and the Eagles are teaming up to make it easy for teachers to get FREE school supplies! Eligible educational professionals can apply for small grants, in the form of Staples Gift Cards, to purchase supplies necessary to engage and inspire students in dynamic, creative ways. The average amount of each gift card awarded will be $100 with no award exceeding $500. Staples and the Eagles will award an average of 25 teachers each month based on the merit and creativity of the room project.
Timeline/Deadlines: September 1, 2007 to April 4, 2008
Eligibility: Applicant must be employed full or part-time as an educational support professional at an elementary, middle or junior/senior high school located in one of the following counties:
Pennsylvania - Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Dauphin, Delaware, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, York;
New Jersey - Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Warren; or
Delaware - New Castle, Kent and Sussex.

Coach of the Week
The Coach of the Week Program gives high school coaches the recognition they deserve, and provides high schools  financial assistance in maintaining and upgrading their football programs. Each week during the high school football season, the Eagles with the help of three local sportswriters will select one high school football coach as the Coach of the Week winner. Each recipient receives several items and privileges, including the award itself and a $1,000 donation to the school's football program from NFL Charities.

What Moves U?
The American Heart Association and the National Football League are joining forces to inspire and motivate  adolescents to become more physically active. We will be providing kits to many schools in the fall full of creative and fun ideas that integrate physical activity into an adolescent's school day, not just in physical education es, but in language arts, social studies, science, and math classes too. More information regarding this program will be available at philadelphiaeagles.com in late August.
Timeline/Deadlines: Program implemented during NFL regular season

JC Penney Take a Player to School
In an effort to encourage children to stay in school and become involved in after school programs, JCPenney and the NFL have teamed up to run the "Take a Player to School" contest. The contest selects one winner in each of the 32 NFL markets as well as one non-NFL market giving them the opportunity for the ultimate "show and tell." JCPenney and its official charity, the JCPenney Afterschool Fund, supports programs designed to keep kids safely and constructively engaged during out-of-school time. The Fund's contributions allow for the creation and continuance of afterschool programs aimed at the academic, physical, and social development of children throughout the United States. Donovan McNabb, quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, serves as the program's national spokesperson and makes the visit to the winning student's school in this area.
Timeline/Deadlines: First half of season
Eligibility: Kids ages 6-13, Nationwide (within 75 miles of Philadelphia to be eligible for an Eagles visit)

Eagles Youth Partnership Book Mobile
The Eagles Book Mobile is a 24-foot long Eagles-decorated vehicle that travels to hundreds of schools, shelters,  libraries, recreation centers and summer camps throughout the Greater Philadelphia region each year. At each stop, the "Storybook Man," a costumed actor, reads aloud to children using animated voices and body language. After the reading, each child is able to select a new, free book to keep and take home. For many of these children, this is the first book they have ever owned. Using the star power of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Eagles Book Mobile program get children excited about reading, and provides them with access to books.
Timeline/Deadlines: Monday through Friday, from mid-March through the end of August. The schedule is completed geographically, visiting three sites in the same geographic region on any given day.
Eligibility: Second and third graders, or children ages 6-9. The Book Mobile only visits sites where at least 80% of the children are eligible for free or reduced lunch. The Book Mobile travels all throughout Philadelphia, and to places such as Allentown, Atlantic City, Bethlehem, Camden, Chester, Lancaster, Norristown, Reading, Trenton, Upper Darby, etc.

Eagles Youth Partnership Eye Mobile
Since most of what children learn at school is through their eyes, they cannot read and learn when they cannot see clearly. The Eagles Eye Mobile provides comprehensive vision care to under and uninsured children in the school districts of Philadelphia and Chester-Upland. Students that need eyeglasses receive them for free, and children that need follow-up ophthalmology care are referred to a local health partner. Using the star power of the Philadelphia Eagles and a 36-foot RV retrofitted to be an optometrist's office, the Eagles Eye Mobile changes children's attitudes about wearing eyeglasses and succeeding in school.
Timeline/Deadlines: The Eagles Eye Mobile operates throughout the school year, five days a week.
Eligibility: The Eagles Eye Mobile serves children in public and charter (grades K-8) schools in Philadelphia and Chester. The program is coordinated through school nurses, and is not available to attend community health fairs or other events.

Eagles Youth Partnership Top Achiever Awards
Since 1997, Eagles Youth Partnership, in conjunction with Philadelphia Futures, a non-profit organization whose goal is to help students succeed in school while preparing for college and careers, has recognized more than 850 scholar-athletes for their academic excellence. Varsity football players from Allentown, Camden, Chester, Philadelphia and Reading who maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are invited to an awards ceremony and reception at the NovaCare Complex with their families and football coaches. Each year, Coach Andy Reid, an Eagles player, and other key Eagles personnel address the Top Achievers. Then, in August, the top student from each participating high school is treated to a VIP day at Eagles Training Camp at Lehigh University.
Timeline/Deadlines: The awards ceremony typically takes place on a weeknight in late May. The VIP day at Training Camp takes place in late July or early August.
Eligibility: Varsity football players from local area high schools (Allentown, Camden, Chester, Philadelphia, Reading) who have maintained a 3.0 or higher GPA.

Eagles Youth Partnership Chess Tournament
Each year, Eagles Youth Partnership hosts a chess tournament at Lincoln Financial Field, in partnership with After  School Activities Partnership (ASAP), a Philadelphia non-profit organization. Hundreds of Philadelphia public school students that are involved in after-school chess clubs enjoy an exciting day of chess matches at the stadium. Several Eagles players join the student chess players, some of whom are avid chess players, and others are taught for the first time by tournament participants. Over the past few years, Eagles Youth Partnership's involvement with ASAP has helped to significantly increase the number of participating schools and clubs in the city.
Timeline/Deadlines: Typically, the Eagles Chess Tournament, a one-day event, is held in April or May.
Eligibility: Members of ASAP chess clubs; these clubs are in many School District of Philadelphia public schools. Students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade are able to participate.
