After a battle with their NFC East rival, the Eagles came up short. The team dropped the game to the Giants, 28-23, to fall to 4-4 on the season and 0-3 within the division. Here are all the major moments from the matchup.

Hicks Picks, But Eagles Come Up Short

For the second week in a row, linebacker Jordan Hicks came up with an interception. This week, it couldn't have come at a better time. With 1:55 left in the game, Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw the ball and Hicks made the pick. He returned it 9 yards to the Giants' 34. From there, the Eagles' offense took over, down by five points.

Carson Wentz first threw to Nelson Agholor for a gain of 17, but three consecutive incomplete passes after that set up a fourth-and-10 for the team. The quarterback looked to Jordan Matthews in the end zone on the play, but the receiver was unable to come up with the ball. The missed play gave New York the ball and the team ran out the clock from there to solidify a Giants victory.

Early Turnovers Hurt Eagles

After the Eagles' defense stopped New York on its first possession of the game, the Birds took over from their own 28. Wentz's first pass went to tight end Zach Ertz for a gain of 7 yards, but the very next play, the rookie was picked off by safety Landon Collins. The Giants took over from the Philadelphia 31 and just 50 seconds later, Eli Manning connected with Odell Beckham Jr. for a 26-yard touchdown to put the Giants up, 7-0.

Once Philadelphia's offense got the ball back, the bad luck continued. On the third play of the drive, Wentz again threw an interception, this time to rookie safety Andrew Adams. He returned it 19 yards to the Philadelphia 30-yard line. New York was able to capitalize as Manning found Roger Lewis in the end zone on a 30-yard pass. With less than six minutes off the clock, the Eagles trailed the Giants, 14-0.

Sturgis Continues To Make An Impact

The Eagles added their first points of the game off a 34-yard field goal from Caleb Sturgis with 5:55 remaining in the first quarter. It was the kicker's 18th consecutive successful field goal. The big play of the drive for the Birds' offense was a 32-yard Trey Burton catch, which moved Philadelphia into Giants territory for the first time during the game.

Sturgis was looking for No. 19 with 1:19 to play in the first half when New York blocked his 40-yard attempt. The Giants recovered the ball and moved it to their own 33-yard line, but the kicker got another chance in the fourth quarter, when he successfully nailed a 26-yarder to move the Eagles within eight points.

He then kicked a third field goal with 3:55 to play in the game to make the score, 28-23. The Eagles moved into field goal position after completing their first fourth-down conversion of the afternoon on a fourth-and-9 with a 25-yard pass to Matthews.

Wentz Goes Deep

Philadelphia added another element to its offense this week, a deep threat. At the 13:44 mark of the second quarter, Wentz wound up and let it rip, finding wide receiver Bryce Treggs down the field for a gain of 58 yards to the New York 12-yard line. This is the first game Treggs has been active for this season. Two plays later, Ryan Mathews ran the ball into the end zone, bringing the score to 14-10 and putting the Eagles within four points of the Giants. Wentz finished the game 27-of-47 for a career-high 364 yards. Tight end Zach Ertz led the receivers with eight catches (on eight targets) for 97 yards.

Giants Add Another TD

With 9:36 to play in the opening half of the game, the Giants added to their lead by tacking on a 1-yard Beckham touchdown, the wide receiver's second of the game. On the drive, New York was able to pick up a big gain when Victor Cruz hauled in a 46-yard catch to move his team to the Philadelphia 9-yard line. In total, the Giants had the ball for 2:43 before going up, 21-10.

Sproles 66-Yard Punt Return

Darren Sproles was at it again in the second quarter on Sunday. The running back fielded a Giants' punt at the 19-yard line and took off. He returned the ball 66 yards to the New York 15. Unfortunately, the Eagles were unable to cash in. The team decided to go for it on a fourth-and-1 from the 6-yard line, instead of settling for the field goal, but was unable to pick up the yard needed. It was the second failed fourth-down attempt on the afternoon. Sproles led the Eagles on the ground again with 57 yards on 13 carries.

Third-Quarter Scoring Exchange

Coming out to start the second quarter, the Eagles' offense began with the ball and immediately moved 70 yards in six plays, capping off the drive with a 3-yard Kenjon Barner touchdown. At that point, it brought the score to 21-17. During the drive, Wentz was 3-of-3 for 40 yards, the longest of which was a 23-yard completion to Agholor.

However, a few minutes later, the Giants answered back to regain their 11-point lead. Manning connected with receiver Sterling Shepard on a 32-yard touchdown pass.

Carroll's Crazy Interception

With 10:21 remaining in the game, Manning and the Giants were at the Philadelphia 45. The team snapped the ball and its quarterback threw to Beckham. The wide receiver, though, never secured the catch and as he was falling to the ground Nolan Carroll ripped the football away. On the field, the play was ruled an interception, giving the Eagles the ball. Officials did review it and the call stood because they concluded that Beckham never had full possession of the football.

Philadelphia took over at its own 40, but was unable to capitalize on the turnover.

Safety Terrence Brooks (hamstring) left Sunday's game and did not return.
