Electronic Arts Inc. and EA SPORTS unveiled the first look of the Madden NFL 26 cover on Monday, featuring Eagles All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley. This is only the second time that an Eagles player has been pictured on the cover, joining Eagles Hall of Fame quarterback Donovan McNabb, who graced the front of the 2006 edition.

"Starring on the cover of Madden NFL 26 and being named to the Madden NFL 99 Club are both dreams come true," said Barkley. "I'm grateful to my teammates, coaches, and Eagles fans for their support, and I can't wait to hit the field again to give Madden players more highlight-reel moments in Madden NFL 26."

"Saquon's reverse hurdle was one of the rare, defining moments in NFL history that would have once been described as 'something out of a video game,'" said Evan Dexter, VP, Franchise Strategy & Marketing, EA SPORTS Madden NFL. "Now, it's a display of the athleticism and creativity of one of football's most electrifying athletes. Madden NFL 26 will deliver the most real NFL experience we've ever built so that players can experience more of the unreal moments that Saquon put on display all season long. The full reveal is this Wednesday – don't miss what's next."

In addition to being spotlighted on the cover, Barkley is the first offensive player in Eagles history to join the exclusive Madden 99 Club, the highest overall rating a player can earn in the game.

Two other Eagles (kicker Davis Akers in Madden NFL 06 and Pro Football Hall of Fame safety Brian Dawkins in Madden NFL 04) were previously members of the Madden 99 Club. Six Eagles offensive players prior to Barkley generated an overall rating of at least 97: Lane Johnson (98, Madden NFL 24), Evan Mathis (98, Madden NFL 15), Terrell Owens (98, Madden NFL 06), LeSean McCoy (97, Madden NFL 15), Brian Westbrook (97, Madden NFL 09), and McNabb (97, Madden NFL 06).

Saquon Barkley is not only the cover athlete for Madden NFL 26, but he also joins an exclusive group of players who have earned a 99 overall rating in the game. He is the first Eagles offensive player and third overall (David Akers, Brian Dawkins) to have captured the honor.

Since joining the Eagles in March 2024, here's how Barkley earned Madden cover recognition and an invite to the 99 Club:

  • Won the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year award and was a finalist for AP NFL MVP honors.
  • Rushed for a franchise-record 2,005 yards in the regular season, becoming just the ninth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 yards in a single season. As a team, the Eagles gained an NFL-record 3,866 rushing yards (regular season and playoffs, combined).
  • The Closer, Barkley gained 1,245 rushing yards in the second half of regular-season games, the most by any NFL player since at least 1991. His second-half rushing yardage total alone would have ranked eighth in the league in total rushing yards.
  • Including playoffs, Barkley's 2,504 rushing yards set a single-season NFL record.
  • Shattered the Eagles' single-game rushing records in both the regular season (255 vs. Rams) and playoffs (205 vs. Rams, Divisional Round). In the regular-season performance at Los Angeles, Barkley tipped over 300 scrimmage yards (302) for yet another team record.
  • Became just the third player in NFL history to win the rushing title and Super Bowl in the same season.
  • Claimed NFC Offensive Player of the Week recognition a team-record four times and was the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November.
  • Earned first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl accolades.
  • Surpassed 100 yards rushing in 14 games in 2024 (including playoffs), including a streak of five consecutive contests in which he played.
  • Barkley set an all-time NFL playoff record with three rushing touchdowns of 60+ yards in the 2024 season alone. No other player has more than two such scores in an entire postseason career.
  • One of the league's most explosive players (an NFL-best 46 runs of 10-plus yards), Barkley authored one of the most athletic plays ever with the reverse hurdle in the win over the Jaguars.
