Biography

Community Involvement:

As a dedicated public health professional, my mission extends beyond my career and into my personal life, where I passionately work to make communities healthier. Bridging my two great loves - dance and community involvement - I serve as a teaching artist for Dancing Classrooms Philly, a local nonprofit. Here, I have the incredible opportunity to teach students, ages 8 to 18, during their school periods. From the elegance of ballroom to the vibrant energy of hip hop, I introduce these young learners to a variety of dance styles. This community involvement is not just an activity; it's a vital part of who I am. Connecting with thousands of students across the Philadelphia school district, I find immense joy in witnessing their progress and the pure delight on their faces when they master a new move.

I am also a Nationally Certified Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor. I connect with hundreds of Philadelphia community members to teach them about Mental Health First Aid, an evidence-based, early-intervention course designed to equip individuals with the skills needed to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges. Through this program, I teach participants how to provide initial support until appropriate professional help is available. Using my public health education to support and educate Philadelphia community members has been incredibly rewarding. Seeing the impact of these programs, both in the smiles of my dance students and the gratitude of those I train in Mental Health First Aid, reaffirms my commitment to fostering a healthier, more connected community.

My passion for public health took me across the globe to Copenhagen, Denmark, where I studied public health interventions. Immersing myself in Denmark's innovative approaches to health, I fell in love with Europe. The experience not only broadened my perspective on global health solutions but also sparked a desire to explore more countries and cultures. One of my goals is to return to Europe and continue my journey of learning and discovery!
