LeSean McCoy was drafted by the Eagles in the second round (53rd overall pick) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut in the season-opening win at Carolina and scored his first career touchdown two weeks later against the Chiefs. McCoy broke the Eagles' rookie rushing yards record with 637 yards, which is now the second-most in team history.
It didn't take long for McCoy to have a 1,000-yard season, as he rushed for 1,080 yards in Year 2. McCoy added 9 total touchdowns (7 rushing, 2 receiving) and 592 receving yards on 78 catches.
McCoy set the Eagles' single-season TD record in 2011 with 20 total touchdowns (17 rushing, 3 receiving). He broke 1,000 yards for the second straight season, going for 1,309 yards, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors for the first time.
McCoy played in only 12 games due to injury, but was still able to rush for 840 yards while catching 54 passes for 373 yards.
McCoy had yet another record-breaking season for the Eagles in 2013. His 1,607 rushing yards are the most in a single season in team history. In addition, he racked up 539 yards receiving and 11 total touchdowns (9 rushing, 2 receiving). He established himself as the best running back in football, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors while finishing second in the NFL Offensive Player of the Year voting.
In McCoy's final season with the Eagles, he surpassed 1,000 yards for the fourth time in his career with 1,319 yards and 5 touchdowns to earn Pro Bowl honors for a third time.
HOF (2024): Former Eagles Running Backs Coach Ted Williams used to describe LeSean McCoy this way: "If you put him in a box, say a 2-by-3-foot box," Williams would say, laughing and drawing the imaginary box in the air that would contain just about any running back in NFL history, "you wouldn't be able to touch LeSean. You wouldn't be able to get a finger on him. That's how elusive he is."
