Despite what some die-hard Eagles fans believe, there are some good football games to watch this weekend even if the Eagles aren't in action. For those who are able to watch all of the weekend's games from the comfort of their homes or at a local establishment, here are five games that shouldn't be missed …
1. TAMPA BAY (2-8) AT DETROIT (6-4) – SUNDAY 1 PM, FOX
You can do some advanced scouting of the Eagles' Week 14 opponent, the Detroit Lions. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson go head-to-head with a talented Buccaneers defense. The Eagles managed to find success against Tampa Bay earlier this season, so it will be fun to see what Detroit can do to see how the two high-powered offenses compare.
2. INDIANAPOLIS (7-3) AT ARIZONA (6-4) - SUNDAY 4:05 PM, FOX
You can put yourself in the shoes of the Eagles scouting department by taking a look at the Eagles' next opponent, the Arizona Cardinals. Defense has been the name of the game in Arizona this season, but Colts quarterback Andrew Luck and company will surely put that name to the test. Keep an eye on the Cardinals young secondary, and get ready for what the Eagles will be facing against players like cornerback Patrick Peterson and safety Tyrann Mathieu.
3. DALLAS (5-5) AT NEW YORK GIANTS (4-6) – SUNDAY 4:25 PM, FOX
In a game that pits two of the Eagles' most bitter rivals against one another, who do you root for? A Cowboys win would boost Dallas into first place in the NFC East by virtue of their win over the Eagles, but a Giants win would give them five straight victories and a lot of momentum heading towards the end of the season. Verdict - Watch the game, but root for the Eagles.
4. DENVER (9-1) AT NEW ENGLAND (7-3) - SUNDAY 8:30 PM, NBC
This game doesn't really have many Eagles implications, but any football fan should get excited to watch Peyton Manning play against Tom Brady. The Patriots are coming off a loss to Carolina that came complete with a controversial ending, and Denver is coming off a win against the previously undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Sit back and enjoy the show.
5. SAN FRANCISCO (6-4) AT WASHINGTON (3-7) – MONDAY 8:40 PM, ESPN
Despite the struggles that Washington has endured this season, they remain just two games behind the Eagles in the loss column. The 49ers are scuffling a bit recently as well, but at 6-4, they are in the thick of the Wild Card race and could be a potential first-round playoff matchup with the eventual winner of the NFC East. Two young mobile quarterbacks, Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick, will go head –to-head in a game that should be highly entertaining.
