Pro Bowl running back Darren Sproles tweeted on Sunday afternoon that he will be "writing my ending on my own terms."
In a post to fans on his new website, Sproles explains how he planned to retire following the 2017 campaign, but he suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the Week 3 win over the Giants.
During his rehab, Sproles determined that he could retain the quickness needed "for one more healthy year." The Eagles re-signed him in April following the NFL Draft.
Sproles has earned three Pro Bowl nominations since arriving in Philadelphia in a trade with New Orleans in 2014. He initially entered the league as a fourth-round pick of the Chargers in 2005 and ranks eighth in NFL history with 19,155 all-purpose yards.
