On whether there is a particular reason for the teams' fourth quarter struggles: "You know, that's something that guys work hard, everybody's working hard, you know we're working on the fundamentals. And then, you have to believe that things will change just like they did a few weeks ago and you have to believe in those fundamentals. That's what we've always done here and we've always been able to come out of this. I think, sometimes you get tested to see how strong your faith is. You know, I'm sure you've been tested in your life and you find out, you know what kind of faith, do you believe in what you do? I think these are the times…these are trying times, you know, for all of us. And then, we have to believe in what we do, which we do, and then keep working hard and things will change."
On his thoughts about why Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald was able to keep getting favorable matchups: "Well, we did…I think Larry made some great plays. I think the times that, a lot of those catches he was double covered. Unfortunately, he made some plays (and) that's the thing that's hard. You saw that he made some great catches."
On whether having CB Nnamdi Asomugha playing press coverage on one side of the field and CB Asante Samuel playing off-coverage on the other side is complicated for the defense: "I think the first thing is that's what Asante's best at and that's what he's made a living at. But I do know this, Asante intercepted a pass for a touchdown the other day and it was against number 11 (Larry Fitzgerald). You know, Nnam(di) likes to press and that's what he's best at. So what we're trying to do is use both of them to do what they do best at."
On whether that philosophy is more complicated for everybody else: "Well, no, that's my job. I need to make sure that it's not, so that we get this thing done."
On whether he will plan on playing Asomugha in more traditional coverage with CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie sidelined with an injury: "Yes, again it's a match up. Sometimes he's a slot guy, sometimes we may want to move Nnam(di) inside versus certain receivers that go inside depending on the match up. So he'll still line up inside sometimes depending on the receiver."
On his thoughts about the defense stymieing the offense all game and then giving up a lead in the fourth quarter and what changed: "That's the thing that we talked about. I mean, really, the last two games you say, 'Well are you getting better?' We have been getting better. I mean, the last two games we scored a touchdown on a turnover, and then we set up some points. You know, this last game Asante had an interception for a touchdown, and then Nnam(di) intercepted a pass at, I think, the plus-26. So in that part we're getting better. And I think what happened at the end is, you know, our third downs; we had third down opportunities (to get off the field), we had penalties and really we weren't able to make some plays. And that's my responsibility. I have to do a better job with that."
On his thoughts about why Samuel never switches from the left side of the field: "The hard part is that Asante Samuel has intercepted more passes than anybody else in the NFL in the last, I think, four years - you could probably help me with that better than I could. And he's done it on the left side. So I mean, he's pretty good over there and I think that's enough said, there."
On whether that is why Asomugha didn't cover Fitzgerald on the left side of the field: "Yeah, because you're looking at comparable corners, you're looking at, now different styles, different styles, but just remember now that Asante did intercept a pass for a touchdown, now. You know, I think that was pretty important. I think that was important at that point of the game."
On his thoughts about Giants WR Victor Cruz: "You know what, we were watching them on tape and we were watching them in preseason we saw some of that. I mean, we talked about it when we played them the first time. Really, I mean you saw that play he caught down in the…we had him double covered. You know, we could have had the corner come off on the tight end but we chose to double cover him because we felt he was a playmaker and you saw that in the preseason. So no, and really he's become a player that (Giants QB) Eli (Manning) likes to go to."
On whether Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride is doing anything differently this year or whether Manning is playing at a high level: "You know, he's playing with a lot of confidence. I think the games that he's won in the fourth quarter have really made a difference. With the things that he started doing at the beginning of the year, the pass concepts that they were using – I don't want to use the word safe, but they were literally different than the pass concepts they're using now. They're going more down the field. I mean, what it is it looks like the coordinator and the quarterback have confidence in each other."
On his thoughts about head coach Andy Reid's future being tied to the hiring of him as defensive coordinator: "You know what, here's what I know. In life you work hard and work hard and you out-work people and usually when you do that good things end up happening, sometimes later than sooner. But if you just out-work people and do things the right way like coach Reid has done here and the way he's taught me, which is work hard, believe in all of your players, never talk about your players, work on fundamentals, and you know what, nine out of 12 years going to the playoffs is not a bad thing. So it's not over yet, we're working our ass off, – excuse me – the players are doing it, the coaches are doing it. And you talk about coach Reid, let me tell you that man works 20, 21 hours a day, sometimes 22 hours a day, you know. And that's what we're all doing right now to try to get this thing going because you know what the fans don't like it, and the organization doesn't like where we're at, but more than anything we don't like where we're at, the players don't like where we're at. You're out there at practice. You watch us working on our fundamentals. Those guys, you know do they have character? Yeah, they have character. So all of those things, we're going on things that we've done and we've had experience, we've had success with doing. Sometimes when people don't have success doing certain things, then they can't lean on those things. But those things have happened in our lives and here with the Philadelphia Eagles, so we believe in what we are doing."
On his thoughts about what they can do at 3-6 that they haven't been doing this year up to this point: "Well you know what, the Green Bay Packers barely made it to the playoffs (last year). I mean, it was at the end and they made it. It's never over until it's over, right? And it's not over yet. And you know what, we're working our butts off, we're doing things that we believe have been successful for us, and we're fighting. And we have a lot of high-character guys, and just know that everybody's working hard, we're trying to get this thing fixed and get going and that's what we're going to do."
