The Eagles selected quarterback Jalen Hurts with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The 6-1, 222-pound senior was the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2019 in his one and only season at Oklahoma, completing 69.7 percent of his pass attempts for 3,851 yards with 32 touchdowns against only eight interceptions, guiding the Sooners to the College Football Playoffs. He also gained 1,298 yards and scored 20 touchdowns on the ground. He was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. He earned his degree in public relations which allowed him to transfer without missing a year.
Hurts went 38-4 in 42 college starts and became the first player to start a College Football Playoff Game for two different schools. His career numbers: 65.1 completion percentage, 9,477 passing yards, 80 passing touchdowns, 20 interceptions, 3,274 rushing yards, 5.3 yards-per-carry average, and 43 rushing touchdowns.
In his first three college seasons, the 21-year-old Hurts was the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and helped the Crimson Tide win a National Championship in 2018 and was part of two other teams that went to the National Championship Game. As a true freshman, Hurts was the SEC Offensive Player of the Year, SEC Freshman Player of the Year, and a Freshman All-American as the Crimson Tide reached the title game. In 2017, Hurts led the team to the National Championship Game before being benched at halftime for Tua Tagovailoa, who then led the Crimson Tide to the win. Hurts returned the favor in the 2018 SEC Championship Game, replacing an injured Tagovailoa and leading Alabama to the win as the Crimson Tide reached the National Title Game.
