After the first quarter, the Eagles trail the Falcons 3-0. Running back Jay Ajayi leads the offensive attack with 49 rushing yards and his 58 yards from scrimmage are the most he's ever had in the first quarter of a game.
On the opening play, quarterback Nick Foles faked a handoff and launched one deep to Torrey Smith who drew a pass interference call against cornerback Brian Poole which set the Eagles up at the Atlanta 33-yard line. However, Ajayi had the ball knocked loose by Ricardo Allen on the ensuing play and the Falcons recovered the fumble at the Atlanta 26.
The Falcons was able to capitalize on the turnover as Matt Bryant connected on a 33-yard field goal to put Atlanta up 3-0.
Rookie wide receiver Mack Hollins drew a pass interference call on third-and-11 at the Philadelphia 46 to keep the Eagles on the field. Running back LeGarrette Blount bobbled a handoff but was able to recover the ball for a 7-yard loss. A sack on Foles plays later ended the drive.
The Eagles start from their own 48 to start the second quarter.
