The Eagles' offensive line has some adjustments to make for Monday night's NFC East game at Dallas with left tackle Jordan Mailata (knee) ruled out for the game. Andre Dillard, the team's No. 1 draft pick in 2019, will start in Mailata's place. Mailata was injured in Thursday's practice at the NovaCare Complex when a player rolled up on his leg.
Head Coach Nick Sirianni said he didn't anticipate that Mailata would be out for an extended period of time, and added that he has confidence that Dillard, who took the first-team reps in practice on Friday and Saturday, would fill in capably.
"I've seen him have confidence. I've seen him be able to shut the pass rush down in our practices. We gave him a couple of different looks of different scout-team players to go against and I feel really confident in Andre and he should feel confident in himself," Sirianni said. "Since I've gotten here – I can't say what happened in the past here – since I've gotten here I've had complete confidence in him. I know he had that injury (knee) that set him back a little bit in Training Camp, but I've had complete confidence in him ever since I got here. Then he got that that Jets game (preseason finale) and the Jets practices and the New England practices and I just think he's looked really good.
"So, based off what I've seen, I've got a ton of confidence in Andre and look forward to – obviously it's a bummer that Jordan can't play – look forward to the challenge that Andre has and looking forward to watching him step up and fill Jordan's role and have a good game."
Sirianni added that the offensive line, which will also start Landon Dickerson at right guard in place of Brandon Brooks (chest injury), has taken a lot of reps together and has continuity, despite two new starters stepping up on Monday night.
"Stout (Offensive Line Coach Jeff Stoutland) does a lot of work in there just getting more walkthroughs than we even get. He's going and doing walkthroughs during meetings as well, so they've had a ton of communication back and forth with each other, so as far as a communication and a chemistry standpoint, I've got no worries there," Sirianni said. "This is a really tight unit, not just one through five (with the starters), but one through 10 (10 offensive linemen are on the active roster)."
The head coach also added that the changes up front won't impact the game plan, that the Eagles will go with packages that they think will have success against the Dallas defense, which leads the league with six takeaways in two games in 2021.

The Eagles added left tackle Jordan Mailata to the injury report on Friday. Mailata suffered a knee injury when he was rolled up on toward the end of Thursday's practice. If Mailata can't play against the Cowboys on Monday night, Andre Dillard will start. Dillard has not started a game since his rookie season of 2019. His first career start came at Dallas that season.
"I'm excited for Andre to go out there and get his reps," running back Miles Sanders said. "He had a good camp. I know he had an injury that held him back. I'm excited to see what he does this week."
