EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Eagles were back in action at MetLife Stadium as they took on the Giants in their first NFC East divisional game of the season.

The Eagles dominated their division rival, taking home a 28-3 victory to improve to 4-2 on the season.

"This is just about staying consistent every week, man. I'm just happy with what we already know about this team. We're going to fight. It just seems like everything is coming together, everybody just believing in one another, and I'm happy that it's showing up," Brandon Graham said in the locker room following the game.

Including playoffs, the Eagles are 27-7 (.794) in their previous 34 games against the Giants, including a 14-3 (.824) mark in the last 17 contests. Philadelphia, which is 10-5 (.667) vs. New York at MetLife Stadium, has captured six of the last seven contests dating back to 2021.

After defeating the Browns 20-16 last week to move to 3-2 on the season, the Eagles were without tight end Dallas Goedert (hamstring) and left tackle Jordan Mailata, who was placed on injured reserve on Friday.

In the biggest storyline of the week, running back Saquon Barkley made his return to MetLife for the first time as an Eagle. Barkley made his return known, rushing for 176 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.

Barkley's 176 yards were second-most rush yds by a player vs a former team in NFL history (CIN Cedric Benson had 189 rush yds vs. CHI in Week 7, 2009) and the second-most in Barkley's career (189 in Week 16, 2019 at Washington). Barkley's 658 rush yds are most through the first 6 games of a season in Eagles' history.

"Howie (Roseman) took a chance on me, the whole organization took a chance on me and I'm thankful for it, stuff like that means a lot to me," Barkley said. "There's no hate in my heart with the Giants organization. They drafted me, brought me in, helped a kid live his dream and same thing with the Eagles. I hit free agency not knowing how things were going to shake up and was able to find a home and a place I love and I'm excited to be here. It's not about proving anybody right or anybody wrong, it's about going out there and being myself and when I go out there and be myself, a lot of things fall in line."

First Quarter

  • After Nakobe Dean got pressure on Daniel Jones to force a 4th-and-3 on the Giants opening drive, the Eagles offense took over for the first time. Fred Johnson got the start at left tackle for the injured Mailata. After an 11-yard pass to A.J. Brown, the Eagles couldn't keep it going and would have to punt on 4th-and-4.
  • SACK! Josh Sweat got to Jones on 3rd-and-6 for a loss of nine yards to force a 4th-and-15 and give the ball back to Philadelphia.
  • "It was just a matter of time and when I would have time to get there," Sweat said. "As a group, we've been taking care of each other and like I said, the backend they've been doing their thing too. Both sides have been improving a lot, we just came together today."
  • SACK! Nolan Smith got around the left side to take down Jones for a loss of 11 yards and force another fourth down for the Eagles' defense. A block in the back penalty on the punt return backed the Eagles up to their own 13.
  • The Eagles got right near the 50 yard line before Hurts was sacked on 3rd-and-10 for a loss of 14 yards, forcing a punt with 19 seconds left in the quarter.

Second Quarter

  • SACK! Dean picked up the third sack of the day for the Eagles defense after flying past the line to bring down Jones for a loss of 10 yards at the Giants' 30.
  • Mekhi Becton was ruled out for the game with a concussion. Tyler Steen came in to replace him early in the second quarter.
  • "It takes a lot of discipline to prepare each week not knowing if you're going to play or not. I think it definitely takes discipline, but it's part of the job," Steen said.
  • Saquon Barkley made his first big play against his former team, bursting outside the left sideline for a 55-yard gain to set the Eagles up at the Giants' 19-yard line.
  • "It was really fun. A back like Saquon is capable of doing that pretty consistently. You know if you go out there and do your job, that's always a possibility. He had a pretty good day today, so it was pretty fun to be a part of," Steen said about Barkley's big day.
  • TOUCHDOWN! Barkley finished what he started on the drive, finding the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown to break open the scoring. (Eagles 7 – Giants 0)
  • "It felt great, anytime you score a touchdown it's good. I didn't allow myself to let the moment of me getting into the end zone, whether it was at MetLife or not," Barkley said. "Anytime you can score feels good. I was able to set up some big plays. I hit a lot of doubles and triples today, I didn't hit one out of the park, so definitely go back to the drawling board and get ready for that."
  • SACK! Bryce Huff picked up his first full sack as an Eagle, getting to Jones for a loss of seven yards to set up fourth down for the Giants.
  • "Being able to come out here and perform that way, it was a great experience," Huff said. "It's a great feeling knowing that the whole defensive line is getting back there, knowing that the whole d-line is producing."
  • TOUCHDOWN! Hurts found Brown on a beautifully thrown ball, guiding him into the end zone for a 41-yard touchdown to extend the Eagles lead with 4:27 left in the half. (Eagles 14 – Giants 0)
  • Isaiah Rodgers came in for Slay with 14 seconds left in the half. Slay would return to begin the second half. Slay was questionable with a knee injury heading into the game.
  • The Giants got their first points of the half thanks to a 36-yard field goal from Greg Joseph with 5 seconds remaining in the second quarter. (Eagles 14 – Giants 3)

Third Quarter

  • After both teams were forced to punt on their opening drives of the second half, the Eagles offense got the ball again, kickstarting the drive with a 15-yard pass to Brown over the middle of the field. A few plays later, Barkley broke free again, this time for a 38-yard rush to put the Eagles at the Giants' 13.
  • "It helps the offense tremendously when those guys are running the ball well. It helps the play action, we didn't really get to it because they were running it so well," Brown said.
  • TOUCHDOWN! Hurts found the end zone behind the classic tush-push for the Eagles' first points of the second half with 7:03 remaining in the quarter. (Eagles 21 – Giants 3)
  • SACK! Jalen Carter joined the sack, party, bringing down Jones for a loss of seven on 1st-and-10.
  • "We just came out, everybody was ready to play, everybody showed what they can do. We just have to keep getting better every week and show it next week and the next week and the next week," Carter said.
  • SACK! Dean picked up his second sack of the day and the team's seventh to force another fourth down for the Giants. It was a career high day for Dean, who had .5 career sacks entering the game.
  • "We all came out, we all did our thing, we just have to keep it going. It's an everyday thing, everyday just going in with a purpose and being 1-0 every day," Dean said.
  • Big play Barkley – Barkley got up to 176 rushing yards on the day with a 41-yard rush to the Eagles 49-yard line.

Fourth Quarter

  • TOUCHDOWN! The tush-push struck again as Hurts pushed his way into the end zone on 4th-and-goal from the one-yard line to extend the Eagles' lead even further. (Eagles 28 – Giants 3)
  • "I think we're climbing in the right direction, we just need to continue to build," Hurts said. "Everybody knows what type of ball we're capable of playing, that's why we're held to that standard from everyone, so the reality is we just need to continue to climb."
  • Giants quarterback Drew Lock entered the game for Jones at the 11:26 mark of the quarter.
  • Kenny Pickett came in for Hurts with 10:32 remaining in the game, along with other backups for the team.
  • SACK! Jalyx Hunt picked up his first career sack and the eighth of the day for the Eagles. The ball came loose on the sacked but was recovered by offensive lineman Greg Van Roten and taken to the Giants' 31-yard line.
  • "It felt amazing. I have to do it again," Hunt said. "The coolest part was just coming off the field and everybody congratulating me, because you always work hard and this is the first one. I have to keep the jersey, but so to get a sack and strip sack, that was really exciting."
  • The backups for both teams ran out most of the quarter, as the Eagles picked up a dominating win to move to 4-2 on the season. (Eagles 28 – Giants 3)
