The Pro Day circuit is in full swing and mock draft season has reached its peak. Who do you want the Eagles to select in April with the No. 8 overall pick? I've scripted picks one through seven. It's up to you to make the final call. Consider yourself on the clock ...
1. Tennessee Titans - T Laremy Tunsil
In my opinion, the best player in the draft is the mammoth offensive tackle, Tunsil from Ole Miss. Tennessee just spent a first-round pick on Taylor Lewan two years ago, but with Marcus Mariota looking to take the next step, it would help to have added protection. Whether Tunsil steps in at right tackle or left tackle, having him paired with Lewan will be two great cornerstones on the offensive line for years to come.
2. Cleveland Browns - CB Jalen Ramsey
A shocker in the Top 5, Cleveland going away from the quarterback position would certainly bust a number of analyst's mock drafts, but is it that out of the question? Cleveland reportedly has been working hard on a deal to acquire Colin Kaepernick from San Franicisco, and apparently the interest is mutual. Hue Jackson has made appearances at quite a few non-quarterback Pro Days for high-profile prospects (including Myles Jack). With the exodus of free agent departures this offseason, this isn't necessarily a team built to win right now, so is there a rush for a young quarterback? Ramsey is viewed by many as the top defender in the draft, along with Jack, and could make up for the Top 10 selection of Justin Gilbert back in 2014, stepping in immediately as a starter on the outside.
3. San Diego Chargers - LB Myles Jack
The Bolts released Donald Butler in a somewhat surprising move earlier this offseason, and the expectation is that last year's second-round pick Denzel Perryman is ready to become a quality starter inside in their 3-4 scheme. Who better to pair with the steady run defender in Perryman than a dynamic space player in Jack? Don't rule out a quarterback or tackle Ronnie Stanley in this spot, but Jack may be too good for San Diego to pass up.
4. Dallas Cowboys - RB Ezekiel Elliott
Could they find another feature back to fit into their zone stretch scheme later in the draft? Probably. But like Jack with the Chargers, Elliott may just be too good for the Cowboys to pass on here. They've put a ton of money into their offensive line, and they may feel that the best way to keep Romo healthy would be to run the rock at a more efficient rate. Elliott could rush for 1,300 yards as a rookie behind that offensive line.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars - DE Joey Bosa
Jacksonville lost last year's first-round pick Dante Fowler to injury in the spring, but they expect him back and look to add another big piece on the defensive line with Bosa, a player some have compared to current Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett. Like Bennett, who played for Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley in Seattle, Bosa offers value as a versatile lineman who can line up and win inside or outside. Jacksonville was going hard after Dolphins' free agent Olivier Vernon before he signed with the Giants, so pass rush help is certainly on their mind.
6. Baltimore Ravens - DE DeForest Buckner
The Ravens are on the verge of a lot of turnover in the front seven, and while they have some future centerpieces in place in C.J. Mosley, Timmy Jernigan and Brandon Williams, some help at defensive end and outside linebacker are definitely possibilities. Buckner can step in at defensive end and give them some disruption from that spot opposite Jernigan, unless they decide to go for one of the cornerbacks on the board.
7. San Francisco 49ers - QB Jared Goff
There's a lot of buzz that some people view Jared Goff as the top signal-caller in this draft, ahead of North Dakota State's Carson Wentz. Does Chip Kelly agree? I guess we'll find out on draft day, but the selection of a quarterback seems more than likely in the Bay Area next month. Goff is a good decision-maker, and his efficiency and accuracy could make him a good fit in the 49ers' offense if they decide to move on from Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert.
