Game Vs. Bears: Eagles Defense

DE Jason Babin

On his thoughts about the loss: "I think it's a really frustrating loss because what we did out there and some of the circumstances. [And] that's why it makes it a little bit harder to swallow."

On his thoughts about the Bears offense: "You know, they had some good setups, some good schemes, but there were some calls that I think went the other way that played into some, definitely, some field position changes and some scores. But you can't blame it all on a couple bad calls."

On his thoughts about the offense putting the team in a position to win: "The offense, I think they played good. They gave us enough juice to win. I think the defense let them put those drives together late in the game."

On whether he thinks the defense played well: "I thought we, going into halftime, had the momentum. I [also] thought we, defensively, had things clicking the way we wanted to, and you know, they came back and put a couple of nice drives together and got the momentum back."

On whether the Bears offense did anything different to confuse them on defense: "Well you know, they were pretty smart [and] I have to tip my cap to them about that. I mean, there's times where they kept eight guys in, seven guys most of the time, chipping and max protecting. So they obviously put a big emphasis on listen, 'We're not going to let these guys put in work.' So it's tough when it's seven on four [or] eight on four."

LB Brian Rolle

On whether he feels like the defense has turned a corner: "I feel like we were alright, I mean, we're not where we want to be at. Regardless of how the offense does, we have to be able to hold any offense to less points than our offense so we can get the win, but we didn't do that tonight. Regardless of the plays we made on defense, it wasn't enough to get the win."

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

On what the Bears did offensively: "Basically it came down to third down. We couldn't get them off the field. It seemed like they made it every time they needed a play whether it was a run or a pass. In every phase of the game we got outplayed."

On whether he felt they were targeting him: "No, not at all. I just look at the coverage we were in, and the certain routes they were running, they were attacking the middle. As far as coming at me personally, no."

On what defensive coordinator Juan Castillo was saying to him on the sideline after one specific play: "It was a call that he made that I should have been in position for, but instead I did the wrong thing. It was just a mental lapse. You have them sometimes in a game and for him to be upset, I totally understand that."

On how disappointing it was to have a performance like tonight's after all the praise the secondary received prior to the start of the season: "It's very disappointing. You get the praise because you see the protection we have. We have the potential to win ball games. We still have to go out there and execute and do what we're told."

On whether he's satisfied with how his play has been thus far given his new role defensively: "What is this? This is the eighth game. Excuses, as far as not knowing anything, that's not acceptable. Can I play better? Yes. I'm a way better cornerback than what I'm playing. It just so happens that it's not going that way."

S Colt Anderson

On the fake punt: "We just saw some things on film where we talked about it. It's just a possibility during the game. [Special teams] Coach [Bobby] April saw something on tape that he liked and we knew that we had an opportunity to make a play."

On why this play was never tried with former P Sav Rocca: "We just never had the opportunity. That's a play where you need the vice inside the box. When that gunner is uncovered, that's when you have to throw it to him. Last year, when I was a gunner, we never had the opportunity to make that play."

On whether that specific play is called from the sideline: "Yeah, you can say it was called from the sideline. If we see a certain look, then yeah."

On whether it was a punt to begin with before seeing the guy open: "Yeah, they were going for the block. That field position, it's right in the middle of the field. We just thought that we could make that play and it didn't work."

P Chas Henry

On his thoughts about what happened on the failed fake field goal attempt: "The receiver was wide open and I didn't want to overthrow him and I just didn't throw the ball."

On whether the fake punt call is something that gets called in from the sidelines: "It's on the field. We've seen them do that [play defensively] on film. We've ran it all week and had no issue with it and hit it and just didn't do it tonight."

On whether it's called by the players on the field: "Yeah, we saw it on the field."

On whether he is going to take the blame: "Yeah, it's on me. It's one we practiced and we did it and I need to get it done."

On whether he realized the ball was going to be short when it left his hand: "Yeah, I mean it's just like throwing anything. As soon as it left my hand I knew it for sure."

On whether it's a hurried play: "Yeah, it's a hurried play because there's a guy coming off the edge, so you just have to get it out of your hands quick and just didn't get a handle on it and get it over there in time."

On whether it's a throw he's made before: "Yeah, we run it in practice about every day just working on it in case that situation ever happens. And we knew that they had done it in the past and just didn't get it done."
