On how long it will take for the Chiefs to compete: "I think that we can compete with anybody in the NFL. We just have to make better decisions when we're out there, we have to eliminate the penalties and we have to start putting together consistent drives, I think. I thought the Philadelphia Eagles did a great job with us today; mixing up their defensive schemes. They brought heavy pressure and normally it was more than we could block and that's what they try to do. They did a good job so our hats go off to them."
On QB Michael Vick's performance: "I didn't really watch (QB Michael Vick) to be completely honest. I was on the sideline making adjustments and trying to get ready for our next offensive series."
On whether it was tough matching Philadelphia's offense today: "I think there's no doubt. When you make it a seven point game, it's 14 to seven, you come off and there's a little bit of a momentum shift. The energy on the sideline changes, and everything like that, and then when they come right back and they hit a 62-yard play, it takes the wind out of your sails a little bit and then the momentum goes back on their side. We didn't do anything offensively really to re-establish that momentum. We fought an uphill battle all day."
On what the biggest thing Philadelphia did defensively to Kansas City: "I think they maximized their pressure schemes. They did a great job of bringing pressure all day from different angles; they mixed it up. We knew this coming in. They do a great job with their defense; consistently bringing different looks and trying to keep you off guard."
On whether he was surprised how much Kansas City ran the ball: "It comes down to the coach's decision. As a player, you just go out there and try to execute the offense and, especially a guy in my position as a quarterback, you don't second guess anything. You just go out there and you run the offense and try to have success at what you're doing. That's how you have to go about your business."
On what the most important thing a quarterback has to think about right now in Kansas City's position: "I have to stay positive as a quarterback and as a leader on the team; you have to stay positive. There is light at the end of the tunnel. We're doing good things but we have to eliminate the bad football. Like I said, the penalties killed us today on offense. We need to eliminate that and we just have to keep working hard. We've got enough players, we've got enough position guys that we can go out and compete with anybody. We just have to eliminate the bad football."
