On the defensive philosophy of today's game: "The main thing we needed to do was we needed to take number 27 (Chiefs' RB Larry Johnson) out of the game. That was our focus all week. Kind of make them one dimensional. And our front seven did a great job today attacking and making plays on the ball, and made our job easier in the second half."
On the feeling of coming off a loss to New Orleans last week: "You know, it was kind of one of those things when you say: 'Okay, by Tuesday, you watch the film and it's over with' but everyone in there today I can guarantee you was still thinking about what happened last week. We don't want that to happen again, so we had to go out there and gain our respect back; we had to go out there and get our swagger back. And I feel like we did it."
On being more aggressive this week: "I think the Saints did some good things last week, and kind of caught us off guard, and we didn't play as aggressively, we just didn't play our game last week. We changed up a couple of things. The Saints changed up some stuff and took us out of our game a little bit. So we just went back to the basics this week, and went back to just focusing on attacking no more what set they come out in, no matter what personnel they come out in, we're going to attack, and that's what we did today, and it just felt good to get back to playing our style of ball."
On whether he was surprised that Kansas City continued to run the ball late in the game: "A little bit. Our front four, when it's time for passes, they get after it. So I wasn't surprised, they probably still tried to stay balanced. If you're back there every play, and the front four know it's going to be a pass, it's lights out, and you don't want to get your quarterback injured."
On how he feels about the defense after three games: "It's still hard to tell. We're kind of up and down, and we've only got three games under our belts, and I think when we play our game and we play aggressive, and we get after it, we're lights out, and we need to do this every week. And it is a matter of doing it, and doing it each week in practice, preparing the right way. As long as we do that, we're going to be fine. I'm proud of the way we came out there today, but it doesn't really mean nothing after this week, so we're going to enjoy this week and get ready for the Buccaneers."
On whether the bye week is coming at a good time: "Yeah it's good; we're banged up a little bit. You know, get away from the game a little bit, rejuvenate. We're going to have some fun this week, but come Monday, we'll get back to business."
On how strange it is to win a game without QB Donovan McNabb and RB Brian Westbrook: "It says a lot for our depth. We have guys that step up. And that's one of the things that is really great about here—we have a lot of depth and guys that step up and are ready to make plays. My hat goes off to (LeSean) McCoy and (Kevin) Kolb and those guys did great today, and our receivers played great and (Brent) Celek, our whole offense was on point. And that's how it has to be every week, no matter who's in. I think that as long as we all have the right mindset, and prepare the right way, we'll be alright."
On whether he was surprised by how efficient the offense was today: "I wouldn't say 'surprised'. I think we have a lot of great players. I mean, we have a lot of depth. I think after what happened last week, everybody was really focused this week; was really into getting this win. And once we're all on the same page, once we're all focused, once we're all aggressive, that's how we do it. But we have to do it each and every week. I think we're learning as we go."
On whether he was surprised by Kansas City's play call late in the game: "I think they were just trying to stay balanced. I mean if you're going to be back there passing all day, our front four will get after you, and that's going to let us blitz. I think that team's think they can keep us out of our blitzes by doing that, but we kind of did well against it today. I'm sure we'll see a lot more of it in the future, but we've got to keep getting better."
On the difference between the first three games this season and the injury-riddled 2005 team: 'I think probably the main difference is, guys are really hungry and guys are ready to step up. Guys are ready to make plays, and become the guy. I think that is a great thing to have. When you have a bunch of guys that are hungry and want to win and are aggressive, we can do a lot of good things. So as long as we stay focused on that and don't get too high and don't think we're going to go to the Super Bowl because we're 2-1, we'll be alright."
On whether playing a team that is trying to establish a new offensive system impacts the defensive game plan: "There's no doubt about it, it's a first-year head coach, they are changing the whole system and they are doing their thing there, but I really feel and truly believe that it is more about us as a team. When we play how we're suppose to play, there's nobody that is as good as us, or we are just as good as anybody. I feel like as long as we come out ready to play, as long as we're focused, and we have a good week of practice, and prepare, we can hang with anybody. So, as long as we know that it is about us, we'll be fine."
On whether he enjoys watching the Eagles run the Wildcat offense: "I love it, man. As long as they are hitting on all cylinders like that. It was really good to see us make some good plays out of that, and run the ball well, and I like it. It was a lot of fun to see it. I would say that it is tough to defend. The teams that we play that have, they may not have it the same way as we have it with (QB) Mike (Vick), we've got a threat that can run, a guy that can go deep, and throw the ball, so we have a lot of different things, so that's great for us."
On whether the team's depth allows the team to do well despite injuries: "I think so. I mean we've got a lot of depth, with guys just ready to step up and do their thing. And we're all well-coached and we're all focused, and all of that is for good games, good production, so as long as we stay focused on that and not really get into the little things here and there, we'll be fine."
