SS Quintin Mikell
On the level of play of the defense at this point of the preseason: "It's hard to say. I would say if our first two games were better, then yes. Even with how it went tonight. The thing is we have to be more consistent. We can't have bad games and then have good games and then more bad games."
On whether the defense can straighten it out by the start of the season: "I think the stuff we messed up on tonight was all fixable stuff. We'll be alright."
On the play of FS Quintin Demps: "I think he did good. You know, he's been through a little bit and he's been down on himself. But he's stepping up and he's doing what needs to be done. He's popping up every play and getting better each week. I think he's doing well."
On if the team accomplished their goals this game: "I think the main thing we wanted to do was play physical and fly around. It's the techniques that we need to work on. We just have to get everybody on the right page and everybody will jell together. It's just going to take a little bit of time."
LB Joe Mays
On his improvement over this preseason: "It's definitely better these past couple weeks. I'm getting a lot more comfortable out there. There are just some plays out there that I need to make."
On the atmosphere with Michael Vick on the sidelines: "It was exciting. I couldn't wait to see him out there on the field. Just knowing that he's getting a second chance. He's coming out hungry. He's coming out to show us and the fans that he's ready."
On some of the improvements the defense needs to focus on: "For one, I think we need to be more aggressive, especially on the run game. You know, just going out here and making plays. Also, pass coverage. That type of thing right there, we need to get a little more fit and get off the field. There's just a couple of things we need to work on. I think we should be pretty good by the time the season starts."
On his comfort out on the field: "I feel a lot more comfortable. I feel like my teammates trust me and they believe in my abilities to go out there and play football. I'm just trying to come in and play football, week in and week out."
