Game Vs. Jaguars: Head Coach Jack Del Rio

Intro: "Ok guys, we finished our third game in the last eleven days and we shared the work like I said we would. We fought through it and I thought there were some bright spots early. Late there weren't some good things that finished the deal, but all in all I was pleased with the effort, the energy, and the way we battled. I was pleased with the way we started the game. I wasn't pleased with the end, you want to win every game. There were some bright spots and there were some things that we need to continue to work on. Third down, not possessing the ball enough to stay on the field offensively continues to be something that needs a lot of attention and a lot of work. Defensively, we were around the quarterback early, I think we missed some opportunities to get him down so that will be something that we continue to emphasize. All in all it was a good night's work. I look forward to getting back to Jacksonville and a normal routine. We have a week of preparation for the Redskins and then obviously our final roster decisions and then the regular season."

On whether they feel like they won: "I thought that we had a good showing early."

On why they played QB Paul Smith: "We were up at the time and the decision was made to play all of our guys and so we played him."

On whether playing QB Paul Smith hurt the chances of winning and gaining fan support: "I think that the fans know that there was some good ball played early and those are the guys that will be playing when it's for real. So, I think any fan can see that."

On how the backup linebackers play: "Yeah, they did okay in spots. Each of them did some good things and obviously our other three guys are back in Jacksonville on the mend right now. We should get them back for next week but it was a good opportunity to evaluate those guys and decide who stays. There will be great tape to evaluate. That's one of the good things that we got out of having a difficult crunch of three games in eleven days. It really will allow us to do some great evaluation and gain some valuable insight into the type of guys that we are selecting from, so I think it can be a positive from that."

On whether they have seen enough to make final roster decisions: "I think that we have seen quite a bit and I would anticipate that we'd be ready to make a few declarations about our roster going forward but there is still some work to be done."

On whether there are still spots available: "Sure, absolutely. Starting spots are on the line. We'd like to settle in on our roster. I think jobs are on the line right now. We've got five roster spots to reduce down this week and then shortly after the Washington game we've got to get down to the 53. The guys understand that. It's that time of year. It's a difficult time of year. We'd like to keep all of these young men but we have to make good decisions and we'll do that when it's time."

On whether there are any guys that played particularly well: "You ask me about guys and we'll talk."

On the play of OLB Brian Iwuh: "Brian played well. Brian has had a good camp. He is an active guy. He has been good. He is very dependable, good on special teams, and does well when called upon. He has done a nice job."

On the play of CB Tyron Brackenridge: "Brackenridge has had a nice camp for us. He was been a nice addition to our football team. He has done a good job not only on special teams but he has done a good job learning the nickel, playing some corner, and I like his temperament. He has had a nice showing from the time that he has been in Jacksonville."

On how Michael Vick played: "I'm happy for him that he is getting the opportunity to resume his career. I wish him the best with that."

On whether he is a player that will give opposing defenses headaches? "I think that there are a lot of talented athletes in the league that you've got to deal with and that just becomes one that you've got to be aware of."

On whether you need the last preseason game or if they are ready to go: "I think we are getting there. I think that we are making good progress. We have another week and we need it. But I think this is a good football team here that Andy (Reid) has put together in Philly. They are good in all three phases and so I think it was valuable for us to come up here and go against a good team to see how we stack up. In some respects, I think it was also good with the hype of Michael (Vick) returning and all that for our guys to come out and play good football. I think all of that occurred and from that standpoint it was good."

On whether Tra Thomas will start: "We have not made that determination yet."

On whether those are the biggest positions still undetermined: "There may be a few other spots that are at stake but again, we will let the competition play out and we will be thorough with our evaluation and settle in when we feel like we are ready to. Obviously, it wont be long."

On whether FS Gerald Alexander is a starter: "I think that everyone has an opportunity to show that they belong in that category. At this point I'd say that his role is primarily as a backup and a special teams player. He made a nice play tonight so that was good to see. He made a nice hit down there in the red zone on a blown coverage that we had underneath so there were some things that are flashing that were good to see and he'll be a nice addition."

On the punter position: "That's one that will have to be settled. We have a little competition that is going on there and that is something that will have to be settled."

On the play of P Steve Weatherford and P Adam Podlesh: "That's what good competition does. Somebody is going to flourish and ultimately we are going to make a decision and keep the best guy."

On the play of the returners: "I don't know. I think that we saw Nate Hughes return some tonight and Brian Witherspoon had a nice kickoff return. (WR Tiquan) Underwood has been pretty solid. I think those are the guys who have had the lion's share of the work. I know "The Iceman" has been back there a little bit. (WR) Clarence (Denmark) has been there a little bit."

On the concussion with WR Nate Hughes: "I don't have anything more about that. I know he is up and walking around. He wanted to go back in but the doctors wouldn't let him."

On how DE Derrick Harvey played: "Pretty solid. I haven't seen tonight's film. I know the line was disruptive early but they didn't finish the deal. They certainly did a good job collapsing the pocket and making the quarterback uncomfortable. I think we have been pretty salty against the run and he is a big, stout guy that is going to play well for us."

On the reports that Jacksonville offered a draft pick in a trade: "I don't have any knowledge of that. That would not be something that was offered by me. I haven't been involved in making any offers."
