Game Vs. Jets: Eagles Defense

DE Juqua Parker

On his fumble recovery for a touchdown: "I just got off the ball and came around on the pass rush and the quarterback threw the ball at the receiver so I went to go chase him down. Somebody made the tackle and I just saw the ball on the ground, picked it up and went in and scored."

On having three touchdowns in his career and showing some speed on the sideline as well: "[Joking] Hey, man, I have a little something in me, man. I have a little speed in me. It's been a pleasure playing. I've been enjoying it and getting those three touchdowns. That's pretty big for me. I'm enjoying it, man."

On still being mathematically alive in the playoffs: "Hey, man, we just need to go down there and take it one game at a time, what we've been doing here and pull a victory out hopefully."

On still being alive at 6-8: "We just have to believe and just keep our foot on the pedal. Keep riding, man."

On what's turning the defense in the right direction: "Just playing together, man. Just believing in one another and just playing hard for four quarters. That's what we did these last two games here and hopefully we can continue doing that." CB Nnamdi Asomugha

On knowing that the Giants lost to the Redskins before kickoff: "I didn't want to know. I knew that they were losing and I didn't want to know what was going on at that point. I know a lot of guys were watching the game, but then they showed it up on the screen. So by that point I think we were already up by maybe a few touchdowns or something, you know, guys were just like 'we just have to keep it going.'"

On going into the game not knowing whether the Giants lost: "I knew the Redskins were up. I knew when it was like 17-0 and we were still in here stretching and then immediately I was like I don't even want to know."

On whether that would change a player's outlook on a game: "You know, it might. It might. I don't know. A lot of times you don't even want to toy with that notion that's why I wouldn't want to hear what's going on because you don't want it to have any sort of effect. It could help out a lot. I don't know if we were losing by a few touchdowns and we saw it, I don't know if we would have surged back. It could play an effect."

DT Cullen Jenkins

On the importance of creating early turnovers in the game: "It's huge. That fumble that [S] Kurt [Coleman] caused and then [DE] Juqua [Parker] picked it up and ran it back in, it's a big play because they're going to try to take the lead and get the first score. All of a sudden we come back and we get up 7-0 on them and then with the kickoff we end up pinning them back down again and we had an opportunity to get another stop and get another quick score on them. It was huge. That play right there was huge for the start we had and getting up early on them."

On the defense getting more creative in recent weeks: "We've been mixing up some stuff and doing things a little bit different."

On what has been the difference for the team defensively over the past couple of weeks: "Getting off to fast starts. You get out there and you don't dig a huge hole for yourself early. Once we start getting on teams and we start carrying that momentum over, we're just trying to finish the games. Not get up and then lose the momentum and then let them back in the game."

CB Asante Samuel

On his thoughts about still being alive in the playoff hunt: "Yeah man, that's what we say, man. I think it was going into the Dolphins game, you know and that was the start of the playoffs. And that's how we're going to treat it each game, as a playoff game and it's do or die for us."

On his thoughts about his interception: "You know, the quarterback and receiver did kind of like a short pass and the ball got tipped or whatever. I just made a good, quick reaction, made the pick. And I think I could have scored, but it's all good, you know getting the team rallying. And they were in the red zone, too. So we stopped them from scoring and that was pretty cool."

On his thoughts about why the defense is playing better at this point: "Just more time. Time, like I've been saying from the beginning. [We have] new coaches, new system, new players and with more time the better we get. We get to evolve and everybody gets to know each other better and understands what your job in the defense is. So everybody's learning, growing more, and getting comfortable."

On whether there are any changes in how much they blitz: "Yeah, I think it is too. I think the defensive coordinator is actually going after them a little bit more than he has in the past. So we actually are getting to mix things up, change it around and get the offense rattled. So it's working out pretty cool for us."

On how he's feeling: "I'm alright."

On whether he finally feels like the defense is playing up to its' potential: "Yeah, like I said with more time we're gelling together with the defensive coordinator, with new players, five or six different starters from last year. So you know, everybody's just learning each other better and understanding each other's responsibilities in the defensive scheme."

On his thoughts about DE Jason Babin: "He knows how to get off the ball, man. It's a wide-nine defense that fits perfectly for him and he gets off the ball. You know, him [DE] Trent [Cole], [DE] J[uqua] P[arker], those guys are beasts at defensive ends and they come off that ball and make plays."

LB Jamar Chaney

On whether he's thought about the idea that the team is still alive in the playoff hunt: "You know, it's just crazy. The playoffs, we haven't given up and we're still in the race. So we're going to keep taking it one game at a time and that's just how we're going to do it."

On whether he knew that the Giants lost prior to the start of their game: "Of course we're going to keep up with the game. We were going to go out there and play hard regardless, but of course we were keeping our eye on what they were doing."

On his thoughts about the revival of the defense over the last two weeks: "Well it's just a defense that keeps getting better, keeps working hard, and just keeps fighting. No matter what the situation is just keep on going out there and giving it your all no matter what the situation is. And we just keep going out there and continue to get better and it's showing out there on the field now."

On how much he's excited about playing Dallas still being in the playoff hunt: "I think anytime you play Dallas you're licking your chops no matter what the situation is. But it just makes it a little bit better that both of us are fighting for a playoff spot right now. And I'm sure they're going to be ready but we're going to be ready also."

DE Jason Babin

On whether he can allow himself to think about being five sacks away from the NFL record: "No. My thing is I'm just going to keep doing what I do every week, practicing hard, doing what I'm told, and on Sunday, give it my all."

On what he finds most impressive with his season: "I don't come to the game saying this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to come in saying I'm going to do exactly what we practiced, I'm going to go as hard as I can and whatever happens, happens."

On whether he ever gets in 'zones' or if it's just matchups: "Really, it's the team. I mean, it's a team stat. I would like to sit up here and take credit for it, but you have the offense is putting up points, you have the rest of the d-line rushing their butt off, you have the secondary and linebackers locking people down. So I'm just doing my job."

On whether early turnovers set the tone for the defense: "Winning the turnover battle in any game is one of the biggest keys. I'm sure there are percentages, you know if you're minus two or plus two, how much you increase your chances of winning. So anytime we can get those turnovers it gives us an advantage."

On his thoughts about how Castillo has used him lately: "You know, Juan just wanted to give them some different looks and mix it up so that way when sometimes we want to rush four they're like, 'Oh what are they going to do,' just to keep them guessing. So it's worked out so far."

On his thoughts about the play of the defense over the last two weeks: "We're enjoying it. You know, we work hard, we play hard, and we do this at practice so we can do this on Sunday. And I think all of the guys have bought into it and know they're getting ready to go back and start practicing our butt off again to get ready for Sunday."
