On the team's strong finish but failure to make the playoffs: "It's a pretty tough balance, but I think you have to take the good with the bad and the bad with the good and just try to analyze everything that happened and go into this off-season trying to figure out how not to let it happen again. How to prevent it at all costs. I think we have a lot of soul-searching to do, a lot of thinking to do. I think our opportunities will arise."
On what WR DeSean Jackson brings to the team: "DeSean brings a lot to the team for this offense. First off, stretching the defense, giving us an opportunity to work underneath and get the big plays downfield when we have the opportunity to. So he's invaluable to this offense. The things he does allows us to do a lot of different things and we love having him on this team and he's our teammate."
On his plans for the off-season: "This off-season I plan to work harder than I have ever worked before. I don't know how long I'm going to allow myself to take time off, but I will be right back at it working out and getting myself into playing shape for durability in the next couple of weeks or so. So I really don't have an off-season or an opportunity to take any time off. I just have to dedicate myself to my craft and my position and everything that I've learned this year, just taking it to the next level, taking it a step further, so I'm excited about that. At the same time, going to dwell on the things that happened this year, watch a lot of film and see how we can get better."
On how to correct his interceptions: "You know, just to not allow them to happen. I mean you said it yourself, there's nothing you can do about it, but I think we've had an opportunity to win a lot of football games that we were in. Certainly the turnovers hurt and didn't allows us to take it a step further and win those games. Every season is different and I still feel like I do a great job of not turning the ball over. So I'll continue to work in that area and continue to play smart football and continue to do everything I can to help this team out."
On whether he has a sense of what changes might take place in the off-season: "No. I don't think there will be any changes. Like I said, you have to take all the positives, the things that we were able to make happen and build on going down the stretch. As a football team, we know what we did and what we've done to put ourselves in the position of winning the last four games which were tough football games and there was a lot on the line. We were able to come together and make it happen. Like I said before and I'll reiterate it again, you just can't…sometimes change is good, sometimes it's not but that's not my decision and I think everything will be fine."
On whether he is thinking of what the season could have been: "Yeah, you just think about the games that we could have won, the games we had a chance to win and the positions we were in but you can't cry over spilt milk. What's done is done and we can't change the past. We just have to look forward to the future. Like I said, every guy has to look in the mirror and figure out what he didn't do so well and what he did do that was beneficial for the team. I have to do it as well. We all do. We just have to make sure we do the right things and take the right steps to put this organization in the position to compete for a championship. I think we all know what we need to do."
On whether he feels as though the team is just now hitting their stride: "That's the unfortunate part about this. It feels so right right now. Everybody is gelling together, our team is getting closer as a unit, everybody is understanding their coaches and what they're trying to do and their philosophy and we're all talking about it. It feels right and, like I said before, that's going to be a direct carry-over to next season. We've all talked about it as a team and we know what needs to be done. We'll fly under the radar and definitely try to shock some people next year."
On whether he feels he can improve on throwing fewer interceptions next year: "I think a majority of my interceptions came from tipped balls and I take responsibility for that because Coach Morninhweg always tells me that's my responsibility to get the ball up. Maybe I tried to throw a side arm pass or the defensive tackle just got his hands on the ball. There's no way to prevent that other than, I don't know, taking to my Quarterback Coach and figuring it out. That's never happened to me before so, like I said, I'm not going to dwell on that. I don't think our season was decided based on the interceptions that I threw. It was a smorgasbord of things that happened that we all know we can change and that we could have done better. I take responsibility for my actions. I'm man enough to say that. Next year will be totally different. I promise."
