Giants vs. Eagles Injury Report

Tanner McKee 1920

Friday's Injury Report

Jalen Hurts remains in the concussion protocol and is out for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Giants.

Hurts was the only player ruled out. Several Eagles are doubtful, but these are veterans who will likely be rested on Sunday.

Quarterback Kenny Pickett did not practice all week, and he is questionable with his injured ribs. Tanner McKee is prepared to make his first career start after playing his first NFL regular-season game last week against Dallas, and throwing two touchdown passes to close out the division-clincing win.

"Super excited. I feel very ready, very prepared getting a ton of reps this week which has been awesome just with our guys. I feel like we have a good game plan. Honestly, I'm really excited to go out and play football. I don't think anything's different as far as a preparation standpoint or anything like that," McKee said on Friday.

"We have an unbelievable team. I feel like everybody has that mentality of next man up. Just because it was my first snap in an NFL game, everybody expected us to move the ball and score and to win the game. That was kind of the expectation that everybody had. It's a great place to be as a team."

Running back Will Shipley is questionable. He practiced fully on Friday, but still needs to clear the concussion protocol in order to be eligible to play.

"I think just go out there and do my job," Shipley said. "You know, whatever that looks like, whatever the end product is. I'm going to be happy with it as long as I get it out right, my footwork is correct, I'm very detailed, and make sure that I'm hitting all my fundamentals. So yeah, just go out there and do what I prepare to do."

Thursday's Injury Report

The Eagles have 23 players on the injury report, but 14 of them are on just for rest heading into the regular-season finale against the Giants.

There are some good things to glean from the injury report. Linebacker Nakobe Dean (abdomen) and tight end Dallas Goedert (knee) were once again full participants in practice. Whether or not they will play on Sunday remains to be seen, but their health is a good sign for the playoffs.

"I feel really good. Really excited with where I'm at. Obviously, it's never fun to miss time, but we've got a lot of football left and I'm ready to get back out there with the guys," said Goedert, who was "100 percent" confident that he will be activated from Injured Reserve ahead of the postseason.

Defensive end Bryce Huff (wrist) and running back Will Shipley (concussion) were also full participants.

Who will start Sunday at quarterback? Jalen Hurts (concussion/left finger) and Kenny Pickett (ribs) did not participate in Thursday's practice, leaving Tanner McKee in line to steer the offense. But who will McKee throw to? A.J. Brown (knee/rest) and DeVonta Smith (Wrist/Rest) did not practice either.

Wednesday's Injury Report

The Eagles held a walkthrough on New Year's Day as they prepare for their regular-season finale against the Giants on Sunday. Today's injury report is only an estimation.

As Head Coach Nick Sirianni mentioned earlier today, the starters will be getting rest in Week 18 as Philadelphia is locked into the No. 2 seed.

"We're going to rest some guys. There are going to be some guys that are resting. There are going to be some guys that are in reserve roles. You can't obviously rest everybody with the roster. That's our plan moving forward," Sirianni said.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts, who suffered a concussion against Washington in Week 16 and missed Sunday's game against Dallas, would not have participated as he is still in concussion protocol.

"He's still in there. We'll see as the week progresses through," Sirianni said. "I don't think I (can) talk about the protocol. Protocol is what it is. Again, we listen to the doctors, we follow the doctors' advice in this. They do this by design, so the people that are involved in the concussion protocol are the ones that are handling those things. We just take it day by day and see where they are each and every day."

Tight end Dallas Goedert (knee) would have returned to practice fully today. The Eagles opened his 21-day practice window as he nears closer to returning from injured Reserve.

If the team had a practice, the Eagles would have given many of their starters a rest day today. That would include Saquon Barkley, Lane Johnson, and more.

Linebacker Nakobe Dean, who missed Sunday's game with an abdomen injury, would have been a full go today.

Quarterback Kenny Pickett, who left the game in the second half on Sunday with a rib injury he initially suffered against Washington, would not have practiced today.

Defensive end Bryce Huff (wrist) would have been a full participant. He returned from Injured Reserve on Sunday, playing 14 snaps on defense.

Running back Will Shipley (concussion) would have been a limited participant today.
