Injury report: "(T) King Dunlap will not practice today with a concussion. He's making progress but we're not there yet. (WR) DeSean Jackson will not practice. He has the foot contusion, and the swelling's coming down but not all of the way out. And then, (CB Dominique) Rodgers-Cromartie is making progress. He has a high ankle and will not practice. (QB) Michael (Vick) will not practice today. We'll just see – he threw a little bit yesterday just enough to test it. And it's getting better just not there yet. And then, everybody else practiced. (WR Jeremy) Maclin will be out there today and he'll practice."
Opening remarks: "We look forward to the challenge of playing the New England Patriots. They have a really good football team, probably on of the most talented we've faced this season, so we look forward to the opportunity of playing them."
On his thoughts about Vick's status: "Well, he didn't do much. He can still feel it. Yeah, he didn't do much."
On whether it's a long shot for Vick to play: "I don't know. Listen, we're just going to see how he does."
On whether having a short week is a factor for Vick's playing status: "Not necessarily. If he can go then he goes and if not, then he doesn't."
On whether he is concerned about Jackson's foot injury: "We'll just see how he does here in the next couple of days. We'll see if the swelling comes all the way out and how he does. There's no breaks in there, or tears, or anything, it just swelled up from being stepped on."
On whether QB Vince Young will take all of the snaps today in practice: "Yeah."
On how much of Vick's status depends on his ability to throw: "Yeah, they probably go hand in hand there a little bit. So if he can torque the ball a little bit, then you're probably in a pretty good position where you can take a hit also. So that's not where he's at right now."
On what he remembers about Patriots CB Kyle Arrington and whether he is surprised by his ascent: "Well, no. He came from Hofstra and it was just a matter of, he was a free agent, him getting used to the National Football League. And he was a good worker, talented, didn't surprise me a bit that he's doing so well. He's a good football player. He just needed to make an adjustment to the NFL and that's what he's done. He's played well this year."
On whether WR Steve Smith would step into the starting role if Jackson was sidelined because of injury: "Well, we have different guys and we would just put different guys in for different plays. So that's what we would do. I can't tell you it's one guy."
On whether Maclin's shoulder and hamstring are feeling better: "Yeah, he's out practicing. He did the walkthrough this morning and he's going to practice this afternoon. So we'll see how he does at practice."
On his thoughts about what makes Patriots tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez so difficult to match up against: "Well they're big guys. They're a little different, but they're big guys that can run and both have great hands, good route runners, and the quarterback trusts them."
On his thoughts about a measure for Vick's improvement: "Well he's gone from last week (where) he couldn't throw the ball at all to where he at least can throw it a little bit. I don't know how to measure that for you. I can't tell you that."
On his thoughts about what makes New England's defense so good in the red zone: "Well, they're a good defense. They've been banged up a little bit so they've been putting people in and moving them around a little bit to make it work. They're very disciplined, very well coached, and that shows in the red zone. They do a nice job down there working that tighter area."
On whether Vick is able to do less than he had hoped: "I didn't hope, I 'm just taking it day by day. You can't guess on these things. You just have to go with what's there as far as symptoms and see what he can do and give him a little bit each day."
On when Vick will throw again: "A little bit today, a little bit tomorrow."
On his thoughts about what makes Patriots QB Tom Brady so consistently spectacular: "Well he's accurate, good velocity on the ball. I think he studies like crazy. He knows the game and he obviously know the offense well and he trusts the guys around him to make plays when he sticks it in there in tight holes."
On whether he thinks Brady knowing the offense is his best trait as a quarterback: "Well, there are a lot of guys that have known the offense well but they didn't have the accuracy or timing or velocity or ability. So you have to put all of those things together. You guys know that."
On whether he looked at Brady coming out of college: "I did. Yeah."
On his thoughts about Brady coming out of college: "Well, he had a good year there. So he was a big kid who obviously got in the weight room and got stronger and did all of the things that he needed to do that first year. And he took full advantage of it, that first year in the National Football League. You could tell he was talented back then. He's always had a great throwing motion."
On his thoughts about how you guard against the younger players on the defense being enamored by playing against Brady: "Well listen, I think when you're playing that's not where you go with that. You get into the game and play, and that's what you do. You have to put personalities aside and accomplishments aside, and then you go play the game. And that's what our guys will do."
On whether CB Asante Samuel knows everything about Brady: "Well, he was there a few years ago and they've changed a little bit since then, but he does. I mean, having played against him he knows him a little bit."
On whether the Patriots philosophy of throwing to tight ends is in response to the league's good cornerbacks: "I think you saw a couple years back that they changed a little bit on their film from the past game and they invested a lot, player-wise surrounding Tom with a lot of weapons. And when I said the two tight ends were a little different Hernandez is a guy that's kind of a tweener wide receiver, tight end type of player and Gronkowski's just big, he's bigger physically, and probably not quite as nimble but still uses his size to his advantage. So I think (Patriots head coach) Bill (Belichek) saw a lot of quality there and big targets that can move a little bit that are important for your quarterback."
On whether he thinks they can play man-to-man with the Patriots tight ends: "Well we'll see. We'll see. I obviously can't sit here and tell you the game plan."
On what teams have done to limit Brady: "Yeah, just play good defense."
On whether Young earned the confidence of the offense with that last drive: "I don't think that hurt with the last drive. But I will tell you going into the game I didn't see guys that weren't confident in there. I think we sure did a nice job, really if you take the last 19 passes away, we had a little success on those, so percentages were higher than the first 17 or whatever it was. So I think that he had good command of the offense on that last drive."
On whether the Giants blitzed Young a lot: "They came at him, they came after him. I thought our – I mentioned this on Monday that I thought both of our lines did well. So we did a nice job of protecting the blitz, did a nice job. And with that front they don't have to do a lot of that but I thought we did a nice job when they rushed four. I thought our guys played well."
On whether he is disappointed that Buccaneer DE Daniel Te'o-Nesheim didn't work out as an Eagle: "Well you know what, he really had been coming on – since he had that surgery in the offseason you could really see his game get better every week. And this style of defense, I think, was one that he would do well in. So I wish him the best of luck. I think he's a good football player and I think the sky's the limit for him and Tampa got a good football player."
On whether he is disappointed that the team invested a third-round pick in him and he didn't work out here: "I think it would have all worked out and he would have been in the mix. So it's just a matter of getting him back where he's healthy."
On whether he expects DE Brandon Graham back at practice today: "Yeah, he was in practice last week."
On his thoughts about what WR Wes Welker does so well: "Well, you're talking about tremendous quickness, and change of direction is really where he gets you. But at the same time he gets you down the field, he's had a couple of long ones this year. And I mean, Tom, that's one of the guys that he has the ultimate trust in. So he's really one of his primary go to guys."
