Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News is reporting that Mornhinweg is on the Jets’ list of candidates for their available offensive coordinator job. Mehta tweeted Friday that Mornhinweg could meet with the Jets "as early as today."
Mornhinweg joined the Eagles in 2003 as a senior assistant. In 2004 he was promoted to assistant head coach before adding offensive coordinator to his job title in 2006. Mornhinweg is still under contract with the Eagles, but Chairman/CEO Jeffery Lurie had stated previously that members of the Eagles' coaching staff would be permitted to interview for positions with other teams.
If Mornhinweg does indeed leave, it appears he won't be alone. Quarterbacks coach Doug Pederson will reportedly join Andy Reid in Kansas City as the Chiefs' offensive coordinator.
