OT Trent Williams, Oklahoma | |||||
Pos. Rank: 5 | Grade: 1st Round | Height: 6-4 1/2 | Weight: 315 | 40: 4.81 | Year: 4-Sr. |
The Good: Well-sized athletic blocker with possibilities at several positions on the offensive line. Fluid moving on his feet, jolts opponents at the point of attack, and displays above-average strength. Stays square, easily adjusts to oncoming defenders and blocks with leverage. Effective in motion, gets out to the second level and easily redirects to linebackers to hit a moving target. Patient in pass protection, flashes power run blocking, and turns defenders off the line.
The Bad: Does not display a nasty attitude as a blocker. Lacks balance, wiffs on blocks and struggles to get positioning on defenders. Slow recognizing the blitz.
The Verdict: Williams is one of the most physically talented offensive linemen to come from the Oklahoma program in a long time. He's displayed flashes the past three years yet lacks a complete game and needs time to smooth out his rough edges. Williams offers a large amount of upside potential, and the team that patiently develops his skills can be rewarded in the future.
