QB Kevin Kolb
On his mindset a couple days before the start of the regular season: "We feel good. We feel confident and we have a great gameplan in place and have plenty of preparation. Now it's just getting on the field and executing the gameplan and using our skills and putting them to work.""
On CB Asante Samuel's comment about not knowing what the team has yet and whether there are still a lot of unknowns: "Oh, absolutely. This is our first real test and it's a dang good one because they're good. We're looking forward to it. We have plenty of confidence in this room. Look, it may be a deal where we don't know what we have; it's a lot better than what we thought. You know what I mean? Even though we have all the confidence. It can go both ways and we're looking forward to putting it on the field and seeing what happens.""
On having more time to prepare for the season opener and whether that factors in: "Absolutely. The first one is a big one for everybody. There are a lot of crazy things that happened, so we want to make sure we're not one of those teams that has the fumbles and the little things that go wrong the first game. We just want to stay within ourselves, play the game and I feel like we'll be alright.""
On whether he watched last night's game between the Packers and Vikings: "I did. Yup.""
On the game being low scoring despite two high-powered offenses and whether defenses are now ahead of offenses: "It's just, again, the first games are always a little bit crazy and nobody is really settled in yet. We have to take that into account and you never know what kind of game it's going to be. Everybody expects some points, but you never know. We both have good defenses, you know, and so our work is cut out for us offensively. However it goes, as long as the 'W' is in the end, that's what we care about.""
On the Packers being tough defensively: "They're real good defensively and they finished the year with a lot of confidence. They have good players all over the place. Even the young guys, I think, are good and they play solid. Again, we'll have our work cut out for us and we look forward to Sunday.""
CB Asante Samuel
On challenges of facing the Packers and QB Aaron Rodgers:"(It's) definitely a challenge. He's a really good quarterback. They put up a lot of points, a lot of yards and they have a lot of weapons on offense. We just have to stick to our techniques and play like we always do and just go out there and be as physical as possible.""
On whether this matchup is more of a personal challenge for him, given that he's a Pro Bowl cornerback: "You got the regular season, the playoffs and the Super Bowl. Each regular season game is the same to me. It's definitely a challenge every time I step up on the field no matter who it is. He's definitely one of the top caliber quarterbacks, so if we just hold him to (average yards) and less points, and we get some turnovers off them, then it's definitely a big plus for us.""
On whether he and the team still haven't proven anything yet, despite having a solid training camp and preseason: "Well, I mean, last year is last year and each year is a new year for players. It's a cutthroat business, so we are excited to see what we have. We don't know what we have yet. We think we know, but we just have to go out there and put it all together and see what we really do have.""
