On being named the starter for the remainder of the season: "I honestly just feel the same way. I'm going to keep preparing the way that I've been preparing. Like I said before, always prepare like you are the starter and I get to play another game with the guys. I can't wait to go out there and play."
On working with the same five guys along the offensive line: "The guys have been doing a great job. They've been working their butts off and really working together. They've been making a lot of calls. I have great confidence in what we're doing, and I've always had. We just have to stay on the same page and stay on the same unit."
On whether not knowing about the future changes his mind set at all: "Not at all. I've always had the same mindset. My mindset will stay the same and my work ethic will stay the same. I always have to work as hard as I can. I have the opportunity to play this weekend against a great Tampa Bay team, so we have to get ready for it."
On whether he ever thought he would have the opportunity to start seven NFL games his first season: "One day at a time. I'm very fortunate to do what I do, and we have a great group of guys. The opportunity to go out there and practice with them and play another game, I'm so thankful. The mindset stays the same, and just keep working hard."
On whether he has talked to QB Michael Vick since he was named the starter: "With Mike and I, our relationship will stay the same. I'll tell you that we stay on the same page and what we say is between us. I've always been supportive of Mike and I always will be. I think Mike is a great player, a great guy, and I'll always think that. Our relationship hasn't changed."
On whether there is added pressure for him to stick knowing that there are limited opportunities elsewhere: "You don't think of it that way. You just think of it as football. Like you said, there are only 32 jobs but you don't make it too big. You take it one day at a time. I just think of it that we have great guys in this locker room and it's a great team to be a part of with all the coaches and everyone who works here. We're all in it together. It's great to be a quarterback here in a great place like this."
On whether the security of knowing he's the starter will help him at all: "No, my mindset stays the same. Always prepare like you're the starter. I'm going to keep saying it over and over. That's how I've always approached everything with any sport I've ever played. The mindset stays the same and you need to approach every day and give it your all. That's my mindset."
On whether there were more opportunities last game to go through his progressions and throw balls down the field: "We did make a few more throws downfield, but we ran the offense effectively. We need to score more points and put more points on the board, and that's on us and me as the quarterback. I felt like we ran the offense well, and we just have to keep getting better and we can put more points on the board and win the game."
On whether he feels as if head coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg will open the playbook for him more over the final four games: "I don't know. I just know what we did today and (am) just working on this game plan and that's up to them."
On whether the coaches have increased the amount of plays in the upcoming game plan: "It's day-to-day. You just work on it day-to-day and run our offense and get ready for Tampa Bay."
On whether he has always stayed in the pocket to deliver the ball even if that means taking a hit: "Yeah, that's the way I've always played. You just have to have that vision downfield. Those guys are blocking their butts off up front, the backs are helping and you have the receivers running their butts off downfield, so it's your job as the quarterback to sit in there and make the throw no matter what. You play this game long enough, you figure out how to do it. You've just got to keep your vision downfield and you can't feel the rush."
On his initial reaction to hearing he was named the starting quarterback: "Just back to work. It's a great honor to be the quarterback here, but the same thing. Back to work. I've got a lot of work to do. I was readying for Tampa Bay and preparing. I studied the last film, made corrections, worked on them and was moving forward. It's a great honor and I'm very fortunate to be here, but (we've got) a lot of work to do."
On whether he has ever thought that this job could be his, long-term, if he plays well in the final four games: "I've always looked at as you take care of what you do today the best you can, the rest will take care of itself. If you start talking about the future, what you do today, you might not do everything you can. I'm focused on now and whatever I do today, I'm going to give everything I have today and that's all I can do and that'll take care of whatever happens in the future."
On what it will take for him to take the next step: "It's just the attention to details. Little things. Maybe it's a read I miss and if I see that read again, I've got to take advantage of it. Maybe it's on the two-point conversion where I'm rolling out and I've got to put it on (WR) Jason (Avant) or give it to the back underneath or maybe run it in. It's plays like that where you see it and you don't want to make that mistake again. So, just working on getting my body around, really putting it on him, not leading him so much because when you roll right, the ball tends to drift right and that's what happened and I know that. I've thrown a ball long enough that it was on me. It was a bad throw and little things like that. It's different throws, it's different footwork. So, it's just the little attention to detail and notes I take. I don't really worry about the stuff that went well. I worry about the stuff (like), 'Hey, how can I get better at this? What did I mess up on? Could I have gotten us in a better play?' Different things like that so I can fix those things and make what I'm not good a right now better instead of making what I'm good at even better. Working on the things that I'm not good at."
On how he balances being the leader of the offense with being a rookie: "I think just staying true to who I am. In any position, don't try to be something you're not. I'm just going to be me. In the locker room, having a relationship with the guys. If we're in the hotel, we're studying or eating lunch and then (when) we're on the field, (you're) the quarterback. Get the tempo going. I think the most important thing for a quarterback or anybody is to have a great relationship with your teammates and coaches on a personal level, just being a normal guy and staying true to who you are as a person."
