NFC Championship bound!

The Eagles took down the Rams 28-22 on a snowy day in South Philadelphia to advance to the NFC Championship, where they will host the Commanders.

Saquon Barkley finished the game with a franchise-playoff-record 205 yards with 2 TDs on 26 carries (7.9 avg.). He combined for 140 yards on his 2 rushing TDs (62 and 78 yards). He was the first NFL player to rush for 200+ yards and 2+ TDs in a playoff game since Raheem Mostert (220 yards, 4 TDs) on 1/19/20 vs. Green Bay with San Francisco.

Here's how it happened:

First Quarter

  • TOUCHDOWN! The Eagles got the ball first and made quick work of it, getting into Rams territory before Jalen Hurts took off for a 44-yard touchdown run to open the scoring. It was the longest run of Hurts' career. Jake Elliott missed the extra point. (Eagles 6 – Rams 0)
  • The Rams made it down the field on their first possession of the game, going 67 yards in 13 plays as Matthew Stafford found Tyler Higbee for a 4-yard touchdown pass. Quinyon Mitchell injured his shoulder on the drive and went into the medical tent for the Eagles. He was later listed as out and Isaiah Rodgers would come in for him. (Rams 7 – Eagles 6)
  • SACK! On 3rd-and-3 from the LA 41, Jalen Carter got into the backfield and wrapped up Stafford for a loss of 7 yards to force a punt with 2:41 remaining in the quarter.
  • TOUCHDOWN! Saquon Barkley exploded for a 62-yard rushing touchdown down the right side of the field to give the Eagles the lead back with 1:07 remaining in the quarter. (Eagles 13 – Rams 7)
  • The wild first quarter continued as Stafford hit Demarcus Robinson for a 48-yard completion to set the Rams up at the Philadelphia 19 to close out the quarter.

Second Quarter

  • The Rams were held to a 30-yard field goal after being stopped on 3rd-and-2 as Kyren Williams lost a yard on the carry thanks to the tackle for a loss by C.J. Gardner-Johnson. (Eagles 13 – Rams 10)
  • After a series of punts from both teams, the Eagles took over at their own 9-yard line looking to get things going again on offense. Barkley picked up a huge first down on a 3rd-and-14 and Kenneth Gainwell picked up 10 yards on a catch that was followed by a rush that brought the Eagles up to the 41 at the two-minute warning.
  • HISTORY! On his second catch of the game that went for 2 yards with under two minutes remaining in the half, DeVonta Smith passed Harold Carmichael (1978-81, 465 yards) for the most playoff receiving yards in Eagles history.

Third Quarter

  • The Rams hit a big play when Stafford found Cooper Kupp for a 30-yard jump ball catch that brought them to the Philadelphia 38. Williams followed the big play up with a 30-yard rush of his own to the Eagles' 8.
  • SACK! The rookie Jalyx Hunt got to Stafford on 3rd-and-13 for a loss of 3 yards. The Rams were held to a 34-yard field goal that was hit by Joshua Karty with 7:37 left in the quarter. (Eagles 13 – Rams 13)
  • FIELD GOAL! Elliott knocked in a 44-yard kick to put the Eagles back in the lead. (Eagles 16 – Rams 13)
  • Hurts was sacked in the end zone by Rams defensive tackle Neville Gallimore for a safety with 26 seconds remaining in the quarter. (Eagles 16 – Rams 15)

Fourth Quarter

  • FUMBLE! Carter punched the ball out of Williams' hands and Rodgers scooped it up and returned it to the LA 10 for a 40-yard run to open the quarter.
  • FIELD GOAL! After a false start on the Brotherly Shove attempt, the Eagles were backed up and Elliott put through a 23-yard field goal to extend the lead with 13:23 remaining. (Eagles 19 – Rams 15)
  • FUMBLE! Nolan Smith got around the lineman and hit Stafford's arm, forcing a fumble that was recovered by Zack Baun at the Rams' 38.
  • FIELD GOAL! Elliott knocked in his third field goal, this time from 37 yards to make it a seven-point game with 6:18 remaining. (Eagles 22 – Rams 15)
  • SACK! Moro Ojomo got to Stafford and brought him down for a loss of 7 yards to push the Rams back to their own 23 with 5:35 remaining.
  • TOUCHDOWN! Barkley AGAIN! He does it again with a 78-yard run to the house to extend the lead further. Elliott missed the extra point, making it a 13-point game. The run tied the franchise record for most rushing yards in a playoff game (Steve Van Buren, 196, 1949 NFL Championship vs. Rams). (Eagles 28 – Rams 15)
  • The Rams found the end zone as Stafford hit Colby Parkinson for a 4-yard touchdown to make it a one-score game with 2:48 remaining. (Eagles 28 – Rams 22)
  • Barkley broke the playoff rushing record with a 3-yard run with 2:45 remaining in the game. The Eagles were forced to punt with 2:35 to go, as Braden Mann left the Rams at their own 18 on his 55-yard punt.
  • SACK! Carter does it again! He brought down Stafford for a loss of 9 yards to force a 4th-and-11. The next play, Stafford's pass went out of bounds and the Eagles took over and took a knee to end it. (Eagles 28 – Rams 22)
