The Eagles asked for and received permission to speak with Arians on January 4. The Colts reached the Wild Card round in Arians' first season with the team after a 2-14 record the previous year. Arians' role with the Colts expanded to interim head coach after head coach Chuck Pagano took leave for his battle with leukemia and he helped the team finish with an 11-5 record. Arians was also key in the development of No. 1 overall pick, quarterback Andrew Luck.
Arians was in and out of the hospital since last Sunday with symptoms of an inner-ear infection, vertigo and elevated blood pressure. Arians has also drawn interest from the San Diego Chargers, who just named former Colts vice president of football operations Tom Telesco as their general manager, and the Chicago Bears.
