CBS Sports' Jason La Confora is reporting that both sides are "nearing a deal" that would make McCoy the next head coach in San Diego. McCoy, 40, interviewed with the Eagles on January 6.
McCoy helped lead the Broncos to a 13-3 record and the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs behind an offense led by quarterback Peyton Manning. The Broncos were eliminated from the postseason last weekend, falling to the Ravens in double overtime, 38-35.
If McCoy does indeed sign with the Chargers, he will be the fourth head coach off the market. The Eagles, Cardinals, Jaguars and Bears still have vacancies. However, the Eagles will have a second interview with Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley on Tuesday.
