Report: Eagles In Talks With QB Dixon

The obvious connection is that the 28-year-old Dixon played for Chip Kelly at Oregon when Kelly was the team's offensive coordinator. As a senior in 2007, the 6-3, 209-pound Dixon was in contention for the Heisman Trophy and named the unanimous selection for Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year award despite missing the last three games of the season with a torn ACL. He completed 68 percent of his passes for 2,129 yards with 20 touchdowns against four interceptions. He was also second on the team in rushing with 590 yards and an additional nine touchdowns.

Despite the knee injury, Dixon was a fifth-round pick of the Steelers in 2008. He appeared in four games (three starts) over his four years in Pittsburgh.

Since Dixon was on the Ravens' practice squad, he is a free agent and can sign a futures contract with a new team starting next Monday when the Ravens' rights to him are expired. The Eagles do not have to wait until the start of free agency in March if they want to sign him.
