Eagles showing interest in edge rusher Michael Johnson. But will the price tag be too steep? http://t.co/shf93RZDND — Tim McManus (@Tim_McManus) March 7, 2014
According to Tim McManus of Birds 24/7, the Eagles are "showing some interest" in Cincinnati defensive end/outside linebacker Michael Johnson.
The 6-foot-7, 270-pound Johnson was a third-round pick of the Bengals out of Georgia Tech in 2009. Johnson started in 15 games in 2013 missing one game with a concussion. He led the defensive line and was third on the team with 74 tackles, per Bengals.com. He also tallied 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, nine passes defensed and an interception while finishing second on the team with 33 quarterback pressures.
Even though he primarily played 4-3 defensive end in Cincinnati, he does have experience dropping back into coverage. Per Pro Football Focus, Johnson dropped back 31 times last season.
