#NFL Free Agents: #Eagles expected to show interest in safety Mike Mitchell http://t.co/Mj6l95vaGT — NJ.com Sports (@NJ_Sports) March 8, 2014
According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, the Eagles are "expected to have interest" in Carolina Panthers safety Mike Mitchell.
The 6-foot, 210-pound Mitchell was originally a second-round pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2009. After four seasons with the Raiders, Mitchell signed a one-year deal with the Panthers and had a career year in 2013. In 14 starts, Mitchell had 74 tackles, four interceptions and 3.5 sacks - all career highs, per Panthers.com. Mitchell was one of only two players in the league to have at least four interceptions, three sacks and two forced fumbles in 2013.
Mitchell wasn't the starter at the beginning of the season, but took over the job when Charles Godfrey suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. The Panthers finished second in the league in total defense and points allowed en route to the NFC South division title.
