This news should not come as a surprise since head coach Chip Kelly told reporters at the NFL Owners Meetings last week in Arizona that the team would work him out. The only other quarterback who the Eagles have publicly stated that they have worked out is Geno Smith.
Manuel finished his college career at Florida State on a high note, with career highs in passing yards (3,392) and touchdowns (23). Manuel has the accuracy to make all the throws and the athleticism to escape the pocket and pick up first downs. At 6-4, 237 pounds, Manuel has good size for the position.
Manuel's draft stock is on the rise because of his ability to run the read-option. He is considered a second-round pick by most draft experts, but could end up being a late first-round selection.
