Easy to see a team like the #Eagles liking Darren Sproles and making a trade. GM Howie Roseman loves trades. Chip Kelly loves fun players — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 11, 2014
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that the New Orleans Saints will not release running back Darren Sproles because there are enough teams interested in the 30-year-old that the team should get something back in a trade.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes that the Eagles could be one of the teams interested. Sproles is only 5-foot-6, 181 pounds, but is a dynamic all-purpose weapon who can run, catch and return.
This past season, Sproles averaged 4.2 yards on 53 carries and scored two touchdowns on the ground. However, he caught 71 passes for 604 yards and scored an additional two touchdowns as a receiver. He also averaged 6.7 yards per punt return and 21.3 yards per kick return.
The news has even caught Sproles by surprise.
