While watching the latest crop of NFL prospects at the Combine in Indianapolis, Executive Vice President/General Manager Howie Roseman and the Eagles were still hard at work within the league.
Philadelphia announced it has signed running back Lew Nichols to the roster on Tuesday afternoon.
Nichols returns to the Eagles after spending Training Camp and preseason with the team in 2024. He also spent time on the practice squad for Philadelphia this season, but was released shortly before Super Bowl LIX.
The 5-foot-10 back was originally drafted in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Packers out of Central Michigan.
Nichols also spent time on the Eagles' practice squad during his rookie season before returning on a reserve/future deal in 2024.
He rushed for 3,061 yards along with 575 receiving yards and 29 total touchdowns in 32 games for Central Michigan. The Detroit native was the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2021.
Nichols will join a running back room consisting of Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, and Tyrion Davis-Price, with Kenneth Gainwell set to enter free agency. – Written by Liam Wichser
