Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Week after an impressive debut against the Packers in Brazil. This is Barkley's fourth career NFC Offensive Player of the Week honor and his first since the season opener in 2022, when he had 164 yards, a touchdown, and the game-winning 2-point conversion for the Giants against the Tennessee Titans.

Barkley carried the ball 24 times in the 34-29 victory, tallying 109 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. The first of his 3 total touchdowns came in the air for the Eagles' opening score of the game. Barkley had 2 receptions for 23 yards and the touchdown.

"It's a great start, at the end of the day, the most important thing is to get to win football games, and that's hard to do in this league, especially against a great team like that," Barkley said after the win.

Barkley sparked the offense after a slow first quarter start with an 11-yard run before bringing in the 18-yard touchdown grab on a great throw from quarterback Jalen Hurts.

With 5:38 remaining in the first half, Barkley cut through the defense for an 11-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles a 14-12 lead.

"He played really well tonight. He should have had four touchdowns and I told him that (jokingly), but he helps us out. When you get the ground game going, it helps with the passing game, so we're excited that he's on our team and he started his season out great," wide receiver A.J. Brown said about Barkley.

With 4:26 remaining in the third quarter, Barkley notched the hat trick on a 2-yard run up the middle to give the Eagles the lead and their last touchdown of the game for them, making it 31-26.

Barkley's big day didn't end there, though. With 17 seconds left in the third quarter, Barkley burst through the line for a 34-yard run to put the Eagles at the Packers' 34-yard line as they went into the final quarter.

"A hat trick is never a bad thing, but there's so much that I can do, and that's the kind of player that I am. I'm always gonna be like that. Go back and watch film, and obviously look at the good, but there's a lot of bad in there too," Barkley said.

Barkley became the first player to score 3 touchdowns in their Eagles debut since Terrell Owens on September 12, 2004 against the Giants. He also became the first Eagle to post 2+ rushing TDs and 1+ receiving TDs in a game since Jordan Howard on September 26, 2019 at Green Bay and the first Eagle to accomplish the feat in a season opener since Wilbert Montgomery on September 12, 1982 vs. Washington.

"The O-line played great. That's a big reason why I wanted to come to Philly when I had the opportunity," Barkley said. "It's why it was a no-brainer for me, and we still have a lot to prove, including myself, so it meant a lot to come out here and take advantage of the opportunity as one of the first teams to play in South America and not just only play but take care of business and get the W too." – Written by Liam Wichser
