It didn't look like the Eagles were going to be concerned with Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice on Thursday night after he suffered a concussion against the Redskins last Sunday.
Well, now there is no doubt.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Wednesday that the team placed Rice on the injured reserve list.
"We're just trying to do the right thing and protect our guy," Carroll told Seahawks.com. "We love him and he's a great kid in the program. We know he won't get hurt again (this season), so we'll get him strong and ready for next year."Linebacker Mike Morgan will take Rice's place on the 53-man active roster.
The 6-4, 202-pound receiver was a favorite target of quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. The two developed a rapport when they played together in Minnesota. Rice had 32 catches for 484 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Carroll said earlier in the week that Ben Obomanu would start if Rice was unable to play. The 6-1, 202-pound Obomanu has caught 28 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns in 2011.
On the Seahawks injury report, cornerback Byron Maxwell is out with an illness. Two defensive starters - linebacker David Hawthorne (knee) and cornerback Richard Sherman (calf) - are questionable.
