The mindset at the NovaCare Complex, back and buzzing after a week off in the post-Super Bowl Championship days, is that the 2025 NFL season is here and that the focus so quickly has turned to the present and the near future.

In other words, take a deep breath folks, because next season is here.

Technically, of course, the new NFL Year starts on March 10, when teams are able to enter into contract negotiations with certified agents of players due to become unrestricted free agents on March 12. And even more immediate is the NFL Scouting Combine this week in Indianapolis.

So, yeah, it's back to the grind for the Eagles after the brief glory of the Super Bowl LIX victory. Executive Vice President/General Manager Howie Roseman, of course, has been through this before and he knows how quickly the turnaround happens. This is something that he discussed in a pre-Super Bowl press conference with reporters at the NovaCare Complex – the challenge of getting right back into the roster-building process.

"It's all I think about all the time. I'm thinking about what we're going to do next year in August. I'm thinking about what 2026 looks like, what 2027 looks like every night when I go to bed," Roseman said. "So, it doesn't really change. ... That's my role. While I enjoy the team on Sundays, but the rest of the week, I'm thinking about next year and it's very opposite to what goes on during the week.

"Everyone's focused on how we're beating that opponent and I want to beat that opponent, too, but I'm thinking about the players in the draft, the players in free agency, how we're allocating our resources, how we're ensuring that we're lined up for a staff member who leaves, and I think that that's the way that our job is kind of set up."

Good thing, because the very short window of downtime after a Super Bowl can be startling. If you haven't started the planning process until now …

Roseman and the Eagles have tough decisions to make and they have some moves they must deliver to get the house in order. A list:

  1. The NFL Scouting Combine is a chance to interview players and really get to know NFL Draft prospects. What happens on the field with the athletic drills is important, yes, but the interviews provide some depth into the character and maturity of the players and that time is invaluable. That stuff starts Monday and the Eagles value those chances to get with draft prospects and set up a Top 30 for visits to the NovaCare Complex between now and the April 24-26 NFL Draft.
  2. The coaching staff still has some needs. Kevin Patullo replaces Kellen Moore, now the Saints' head coach, as the new offensive coordinator. There are some other areas to address on the coaching staff as well. Head Coach Nick Sirianni has his to-do list as well.
  1. NFL Free Agency is coming at the Eagles fast and furious. The team has some difficult decisions to make with a list of players scheduled to hit the market on March 12, and that groundwork, no doubt, has been in place for some time internally. The NFL raised the Salary Cap from $254.4 million in 2024 to a range of $277.5 million to $281.5 million in 2025, an increase of $22.1 million to $26.1 million per team in the season ahead.
  1. As the team is preparing to upgrade the roster, the Eagles are also planning out an offseason schedule. It is important to give players some downtime. It is also important that the new players are in South Philadelphia and given the proper time to learn a new system and acclimate themselves to Philadelphia.
  1. Finally, the NFL Draft is something the Eagles prepare for 11 months a year. That process is smooth and very much a foundational piece of the roster-building program. That the NFL Draft is only 7 weeks away speaks to the length of an NFL season when you win the Super Bowl.
