EYP's 12th Annual Chess Tournament brought some of the best young players from the area

According to the U.S. Chess Federation and numerous research studies, participating in the sport of chess fosters academic achievement and increases patience, self-control and sportsmanship among school-aged kids

The invitation-only event featured 225 youth chess players (grades 1-12) from After School Activities Partnership's (ASAP) Youth Chess Challange.

The competition was intense, but there was plenty of sportmanship to go around
