Kings, queens and bishops galore! On Thursday, Eagles Youth Partnership held their 11th Annual Chess Tournament at Lincoln Financial Field ...

On Thursday, some of the Eagles traded in their shoulder pads for thinking caps as they participated in the 11th Annual Chess Tournament

The Eagles Chess Tournament is an all-day invitation-only event for 125 of the strongest and most dedicated young chess players (grades 2-12) from ASAP's Philadelphia Youth Chess Challenge sponsored by ASAP/After School Activities Partnerships and the Eagles Youth Partnership

In addition to meeting SWOOP and competing against Eagles players, the students participated in four rounds of competition, followed by an awards ceremony in the Eagles' locker room

ASAP coordinates the Philadelphia Youth Chess Challenge, a chess playing community of clubs playing weekly in schools, libraries, and community centers throughout the city

In the past school year, the Chess Challenge included 3,500 students playing in 248 after school clubs

Since 2002, ASAP has coordinated after school clubs with the mission of keeping Philadelphia youth safe and engaged in skill building activities after the school day ends. ASAP's slogan is "What happens after graduation starts with what happens after school."

T Michael Bamiro is excited about his move

Now, it's time for high fives all around

The Eagles Youth Partnership (EYP) has been a key supporter of ASAP and the Chess Challenge since its inception
