Ronell Williams was named the assistant linebackers/defensive quality control coach of the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2024 offseason after he spent the 2023 campaign working with the team's nickel cornerbacks.
In his first year with the Eagles, Williams helped navigate an injury that sidelined Avonte Maddox for 13 games by developing a group of young defensive backs while mixing in veteran experience at the position.
Prior to joining Philadelphia's staff, Williams spent five years (2019-22) working as a defensive quality control coach with the Chicago Bears.
In 2021, Williams supported a Bears defense that led the NFL in sacks per pass attempt (10.3 pct.) and totaled the fourth-most sacks (48) overall, including a franchise-record 18.5 sacks by second-team Associated Press All-Pro and Pro Bowl defensive end Robert Quinn. Chicago also ranked third in passing defense (191.6 ypg) and sixth in total defense (316.7 ypg).
During the 2020 campaign, Williams helped Chicago finish fifth in red zone defense (54.7 pct.) and eighth in third-down defense (38.1 pct.).
In his first year with the Bears in 2019, Williams aided a unit that registered top 10 rankings in total defense (324.1 ypg, eighth), passing defense (222.1 ypg, ninth) and rushing defense (102.0 ypg, ninth).
Before his time in Chicago, Williams spent the 2017-18 seasons as a graduate assistant/defensive analyst at Temple. He also served as the linebackers coach at Widener during the 2016 campaign.
A native of Chester, PA, Williams played collegiately at West Chester as a linebacker, where he led the team in tackles from 2011-13. He earned a bachelor's degree in exercise sciences in 2014 and obtained a graduate degree in higher education from Temple in 2018.
