As always, Jake Elliott showed up on the biggest stages this year, including of course the biggest one of them all. Elliott set the Super Bowl record for points scored by a kicker with 16 and tied the record for field goals with four in the game. He also made numerous big kicks along the way, including three huge field goals in poor weather conditions in the Divisional Round win over the Rams.
Punter Braden Mann averaged 48.8 gross yards per punt (42.1 net) in 2024 while mostly handling kickoff duties throughout the year. Rick Lovato provided good snaps all throughout the year per usual, assisting in the record Elliott set.
Cooper DeJean helped return punts for most of the year as Britain Covey was out with injury. DeJean returned 21 punts for 211 yards while also serving as the nickel cornerback on defense.
Will Shipley, Kenneth Gainwell, and Isaiah Rodgers all returned kickoffs throughout the year as the Eagles had a ton of versatile athletes at their disposal for the first year of the new kickoff format in 2024.
Free Agents
Rick Lovato is set to become an unrestricted free agent this year.
Bird Talk
Jake Elliott on his 2024 season:
"I think I stayed pretty even keeled every week and kind of just trusted my process. A few of the longer ones didn't go my way, but I don't feel like the numbers tell the story of my season. But I got to a good confident place every week and put my best foot forward."
Notable Stat
Elliott set franchise postseason records in both points (43) and made field goals (10) in 2024.
Under the Microscope
Will DeJean move to the full-time punt returner next year or stick only on defense? Mann continues to get better and has been great as Elliott's holder. It will be interesting to see what the kickoff return room looks like next year and who will stick out among Shipley, Ainias Smith, and other young players depending on what happens in free agency. – Written by Liam Wichser
