The Philadelphia Eagles are continuing to expand their fan outreach as the NFL announced on Monday that the team can begin launching marketing and engagement efforts in Brazil as part of the league's Global Markets Program (GMP).

First launched in 2022, the GMP awards NFL clubs international marketing rights to build brand awareness and fandom beyond the U.S., through fan engagement, events, commercial opportunities, and NFL Flag development. There are currently 29 NFL teams involved in the program across 21 international markets. The Eagles were first granted rights to Australia, New Zealand, and Ghana in 2022 and have been strengthening the connection shared with Eagles fans in those countries ever since. The Eagles played in the first-ever NFL game in South America in Week 1 of the 2024 season against the Green Bay Packers in São Paulo, Brazil, at the Arena Corinthians – home to the Brazilian soccer team the SC Corinthians.

The Eagles and Detroit Lions are the newest teams to be granted access to Brazil, joining the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots.

"We are thrilled to welcome Brazil to our growing family of international territories. Having been granted these rights through the National Football League's Global Markets Program, we will now have the opportunity to broaden the reach of our brand in a country where an authentic connection already exists," Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said. "We were privileged to play in the first-ever NFL game in South America last season and through the Eagles Autism Foundation, we helped fund Brazilian-based autism research and care with a $400,000 pilot grant. We now look forward to establishing an even deeper connection in Brazil for years to come."

In addition to the game played in Brazil, the Eagles Autism Foundation hosted a roundtable discussion to address the current state of autism research and care in the country. To support Brazilian-based autism research and help transform lives for individuals and families affected in this community, Lurie donated a $400,000 pilot grant to assist qualified institutions and their cutting-edge work in this space.

Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee has a special connection to the country, spending 21 months in Brazil as part of a service mission on behalf of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints before he began college at Stanford.

The Eagles will partner with the NFL to engage with Eagles fans in Brazil through flag football programs, and other fan events, including watch parties and unique fan engagement experiences.

"NFL fandom has no boundaries. We have experienced this first-hand over the past three years through the sport's organic growth and momentum in Australia, New Zealand, and Ghana. The touchpoints we have created in these three countries – and now in Brazil – will continue to strengthen the bond we share with Eagles fans domestically and abroad," Lurie said. – Written by Liam Wichser
