A.J. Brown, Devin White downgraded to out; Eagles elevate Parris Campbell, John Ross for Buccaneers game

Roster Moves

The Eagles will not have wide receiver A.J. Brown for a third consecutive game as the team downgraded him to out on Saturday. Linebacker Devin White was also downgraded to out for personal reasons.

Brown suffered a hamstring injury in practice leading up to the Monday night game against Atlanta in Week 2. Brown returned to practice for the first time on Friday in a limited capacity.

The team did elevate two wide receivers from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Parris Campbell and John Ross.

With Brown out, DeVonta Smith out with a concussion, and Britain Covey on Injured Reserve, the Eagles have, in addition to Campbell and Ross, Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson at wide receiver. The Eagles signed Jack Stoll to the active roster this week, giving them three tight ends.

Campbell has been elevated from the practice squad for each of the past two weeks. He had two receptions for 13 yards in last Sunday's win over the Saints.

As Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro wrote this week, Campbell reflected on his role and overcoming being released at the end of the preseason.

"Every time you get out there, you're a better player. That's the way this game works," Campbell said. "It felt great to be out there last week – getting into a huddle, hearing the call, kind of getting into a flow. I felt a lot better about myself after playing and I've kept that feeling all week.

"Getting cut, it hurt. I'm not gonna lie. But I am a man of faith and if you told me I would be in this situation after the way I felt that day, I would take it. I've been given an opportunity and I feel I'm taking advantage of it."

Ross, the former No. 9 overall pick who originally joined the Eagles after a Rookie Camp tryout following this year's NFL Draft, was brought back to the practice squad this week. He has not played in a regular-season game since the end of the 2021 season.

White, signed by the Eagles in free agency, has yet to make his team debut. He was inactive for the first two games and will not play Sunday against his former team. The Buccaneers selected White with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Buccaneers downgrade starting right tackle to out

Tampa Bay will be without starting right tackle Luke Goedeke, who was downgraded to out as he remains in the concussion protocol. Justin Skule, the team's fifth-year tackle out of Vanderbilt, is in line to start for Goedeke.

The Buccaneers also added running back Rachaad White to the injury report on Saturday. White is now questionable with an illness. Tampa Bay's leading rusher Bucky Irving is also questionable with a hamstring injury.

Tampa Bay also elevated punter Trenton Gill and wide receiver Sterling Shepard from the practice squad for Sunday's game. Rookie iwide receiver Jalen McMillan is doubtful with a hamstring injury and fellow rookie wide receiver Kameron Johnson is questionable with an ankle injury.
