Behind The Mask: DE Fletcher Cox

Behind-The-Mask-Cox.jpg

An athletic and versatile defensive lineman, Fletcher Cox made an immediate impact as a rookie in 2012 when the team traded up three spots to take him 12th overall.

Since then he has established himself as one of the team's most productive defensive players. Cox was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team after his first season. This year, Cox is tied for the team lead with 3.0 sacks.

And he is no stranger to stand-out performances. Cox was named first-team All-SEC as a junior at Mississippi State. During his three-year career with the Bulldogs, he amassed 114 tackles, 24.5 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks in 36 games.

But off the field one of Fletcher's passions is getting dirty and fixing up old cars. In fact, he believes he'd most likely work as a mechanic if he wasn't playing football.

"It runs in the family," said Cox. "My mom works at Nissan. My brother owns two race cars that I like to work on sometimes. I love it, it's great."

And then there is the getting down and dirty good time of "mud riding" with one of his two ATVs.

"I got into it when I was little," said Fletcher. "There are a few tracks near my hometown I drive to. You talk about mud ... wait till you see how covered you are after doing this for a few hours. It's crazy."
