The Arizona Cardinals announced on Monday afternoon that they have named Todd Bowles as their defensive coordinator. Bowles will be reunited with new head coach Bruce Arians, who coached Bowles at Temple.
Bowles was hired by the Eagles to oversee the secondary in 2012. Midway through the season, Bowles was promoted to defensive coordinator. Bowles wrapped up his 13th season as an NFL assistant coach after an eight-year NFL playing career. This past season provided Bowles' first opportunity to be a coordinator at the NFL level although he was an interim head coach for three games in Miami at the end of the 2011 season.
Arizona boasted one of the league's toughest defenses in 2012 as they will send two players to the Pro Bowl in middle linebacker Daryl Washington and cornerback Patrick Peterson. The Cardinals ranked fifth against the pass, third in the red zone and second in third-down defense.
