Some speedy cover cornerbacks like to play off the ball and wait to make a play. That's not the case for Eagles' fourth-round pick Brandon Boykin, who was selected with the 123rd overall selection.

 The former Georgia Bulldog is comfortable playing close to the line of scrimmage and stopping the run, even at 5-10, 180.

"I do enjoy it. That's something that I…get overlooked for, for me being a smaller corner and playing the slot," Boykin said. "People say you've got to be able to tackle, and my ability to cover and tackle are up to par."

At Georgia, Boykin moved all over the field, playing on the outside and in the slot as a cornerback while also returning kickoffs and punts. He left Georgia as the school's all-time leader in kick-return yardage (2,663). He finished his career with nine interceptions and had three plays of 100 or more yards.

The 2011 Paul Hornung Award winner, Boykin anticipates his role with the Eagles to be similar to the one he played with the Bulldogs, moving around as a cornerback while also returning kicks. He expects to compete for those jobs right away. Boykin suffered a fractured right fibula at the Senior Bowl, but said he will be back to full strength for rookie camps.

Boykin said he spoke with Eagles coaches at the Senior Bowl and at the NFL Scouting Combine and knew the team was interested in him. Projected to be chosen as early as the second round, Boykin said he was surprised and a little disappointed to drop to the fourth round, but he looks forward to coming to the Eagles and competing.
