Reports earlier today indicated that the Eagles and fullback Leonard Weaver were close to agreeing on a long-term deal. A deal could not be hammered out before the end of the league year and the Eagles have tendered Weaver, a restricted free agent, a one-year deal.
However, it looks like both sides continue to work towards a long-term deal.
Adam Caplan of Scout.com and Sirius NFL Radio, also a frequent contributor on PhiladelphiaEagles.com, reported on his Twitter account that the "Eagles and Leonard Weaver are closing in on deal, source said. Source adds strong optimism that deal could get done within 24 hours."
Weaver joined the Eagles as an unrestricted free agent from Seattle last off-season. After a career year, Weaver earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors for the first time. Weaver is one of the players in the league who is only a restricted free agent because of the uncapped year.
