CB Devin McCourty, Rutgers | |||||
Pos. Rank: 1 | Grade: 1st Round | Height: 5-10 1/2 | Weight: 193 | 40: 4.48 | Year: 5-Sr. |
The Good: Nice-sized cornerback rising up draft boards. Quick flipping his hips off the line, easily transitions with opponents, and displays a burst of closing and recovery speed. Shows a nice move to the ball, possesses an excellent burst out of his plant and out- positions receivers to defend the throw. Physical in all aspects of the game and quickly come up the field to help defend screen passes or stop running plays. Terrific special teams player who helps out in coverage units.
The Bad: Lacks the great top-end speed. Adequate ball skills yet has room for improvement.
The Verdict: McCourty really improved his game last year and now ranks as one of the best senior cornerbacks in this draft. He offers a lot of upside for the next level and will help a franchise on special teams as he continues to develop his game.
