Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, the No. 5 overall pick in the NFL Draft this past spring, completed all five of his passes, including a touchdown, in his only series in Thursday's preseason finale against Philadelphia.
Little did he know, he had somewhat of a fan on the Eagles' sideline.
"He was great after the game, he said, 'Hey rook, I see you playing. I saw you play in college' and he gave me some words of encouragement," Sanchez said of his post-game exchange with Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. "And I told him to keep up the good work and make the most of this opportunity. He seemed real nice and wished me well. So that was real classy of him."
Sanchez also offered some analysis on Vick's most extensive football play since December 2006.
"He looked like he was getting back to his old self and running around quite a bit," Sanchez said. "He was spinning it out there and he can still run. I think it's only a matter of time. He'll find his rhythm again and he'll be fine.
"I'm sure he's still adjusting to things after a long layoff like that."
